Reality shows: smash or trash

IMO, these so-called reality shows are causing a demise in television today. I do not care to watch this crap. If I want something on the lines of reality shows, I'll watch Real TV, or World's Wildest Police Videos, Max X, etc...
Enough is enough with "Survivor", "Joe Millioniare", "Bachelor", etc ...

It's not "Survivor" unless someone could actually die.
The "Bachelor", "Bachelor II" - well, they're still bachelors ... and wannabe actors (and actresses) soaking up the publicity.

I don't watch them either. I can look around me for reality...those aren't really reality.

-Except I must admit that I did enjoy Colby last year on Survivor...I tuned in some just to watch him...

I watch Survivor every Wed. I absolutely love the show! You can take the rest of them and dump them for all I care.

There is a new "reality show" where the public votes and picks out a couple and they get MARRIED!!! This is so incredibly wrong on so many levels - I'm speachless. . . How incredibly stuupid are these people?

They gotta be doing smthg right to be making top rated shows like The west wing and the practice to drop in the ratings.

I like fear factor. It's right before my favorite show, 3rd Watch. I don't watch the rest.

Fear factor is pretty good, and I also watch Survivor. Survivor viewing probably takes up about 1/3 of my weekly TV allocation. Too busy doing other things along with work to watch the boob tube.

And there's the totally idiotic "I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here!"

Star search is the best reality show out there right now.

I never considered Star Search a reality show per se, but I agree about Star Search that it's good entertainment.

While I agree that some of the reality shows are stupid. I also think they are a way to escape, especially these days form all the crime, violence, and drama flooding the airwaves. I also enjoy survivor and a few of the others. I don't know about anyone else but the news lately is very depressing and violent shows or dramas just amplify this. I like to watch them and forget if just for an hour that this world is in serious trouble!!

If the reality shows would take "NORMAL" people off the streets, that would be much better. Instead they take gorgeous people looking for a little extra something on their supper plate. (I'm not bashing Survivor on this statement, because they do take normal people...the others don't.) Life is a reality already, why add more to consume our litte earned time.

Survivor was good for the first couple of series, but now they are getting out of hand! (Same with many of the other shows)

I wish there would have been a choice that was in the middle. I watch Star Search and will watch Country Star on USA Network and occasionally watch Fear Factor, but I think they are overdoing it.

I think the first survivor was good....but then the topic got a bit old for me. I think Joe millionaire is the bigest bunch of crud to be on a tv screen and as for married by america, i mean come on give me a break. Sure that is a very good way to teach the youth the value of what a sacred vow means!

I have to admit the first few auditions of american Idol always give me a really good giggle :)

Did they ever have big brother here??? It was a huge hit in South Africa and England?

Yes Amanzi, we had Big Brother and it ran for three seasons I think :o I thought they were supposed to do another one...guess not.

Speaking of Joe Millionaire, I heard on the news this morning, that both Joe Millionaire (Evan) and Zora have gone their separate ways. However, for appearances, Evan is charging $15,000 an appearance and Zora charging $10,000 an appearance (for parties and such) ....

This crap has got to stop.
The clock is sitting for them at 14:59. Show's over.
