Well, here we are, smack dab in the middle of the holiday season AGAIN! The media has started their BLITZ of movies, songs etc. As in years past, the same question arises, "What's your favorite holiday movie(s)?" Mine has always been and will always be, "National Lampoons Christmas Vacation!" Second, the Christmas Story...."Your gonna put an eye out with that thing!"

I love "The Homecoming" with the Walton family. I also love the "Nutcracker" ballet with Barishnikov (sp?). "The Christmas Story", It's a Wonderful Life" and "Scrooge", especially the muscial.

It's not exactly considered a Christmas movie, but it's almost always shown around Christmas time. And, since I'm Austrian and my grandfather is a first-generation American (his father came here just before the assassination of Ferdinand) -- "The Sound Of Music."

I like "It's A Wonderful Life" also and "Always Remember, I Love You," which is a Patty Duke movie (ya shoulda known  ).

Gotta be "The Christmas Carol"/"Scrooge" in original and/or animated versions.

And "The Christmas Story".

I'm sure I'm forgetting others...

I like them all! Like Stephanie, I like The Homecoming too. I also loved watching The Gathering, with Ed Asner as the estranged father figure. That's an old-old movie though, I never see it aired anymore.

I also enjoy any old sitcom's xmas special - always a sucker for those. The cornier, the better. LOL

And lastly, this doesn't fit in with the xmas movie genre, but I like all the xmas specials - Rudolph, Frosty, Charlie Brown. My kids are now 13 and 16 but they still like to watch these shows.

OK, I always thought it was a dumb sentimental movie, but I'll take you up on it.

From IMDB.com:
The movie that Kevin watches on video tape is not a real film, but footage especially created. It was called "Angels With Filthy Souls."

How could I forget the 2 Home Alone movies with M. Culkin? They're both great! As far as kid type movies go. My youngest daughter and I watched HA I last weekend. Still my favorite but the NYC one is cute too. But I kept thinking during that movie - how can parents leave their kid home alone TWO YEARS IN A ROW? Laura said I'm supposed to ask questions like that and just enjoy the movie. M. Culkin sure has that stunned and shocked look with the gasp down pat. Not to mention the eyes open wide! Cute.

Being the non-movie fan, I would have to say Charlie Brown's Christmas is a great Christmas Special; would have to be my favorite. :)
