I heated a can of stew in the microwave. Yes a TIN can and nothing happened except the stew got heated. Someone told me it would work and not cause aching and sparks,you know who you are, and it did work. :lol:

You said it was a TIN can. I think METAL is what you have to be careful about when using microwaves.

Tin is a Metal, but Hunter84 is correct, you CAN put metal in a microwave without ill effects. Providing the following is true.

there cannot be two points of the metal too close to each other, such as tines on a fork, or crumpled up tin foil. The points that are close together will arc. A can does not have points protruding so they have nothing to arc to.

I found out that this is true by watching the show "Myth Busters" After watching the show, I tried it myself and voila, you CAN put metal in a microwave.

LOL Naturally a frog would freak out.. So, what is it? as long as 2 metals are not that close together, you can put metal in the microwave..?

Never put hard boiled eggs in the microwave either......This reminds me of a time back in the day, after being out all night with a buddy of mine and crashing at his (no so clean apt) waking up to find the microwave door open and two of the BIGGEST roaches you have ever seen hanging out inside, so I shut the door and NUKED them.

LOL.. captain, that reminds me of the movie gremlins (i think it was gremlins) when they nuke the one little dude and he explodes.

My husband decided to put a bowl into the microwave that has gold edging... lovely fireworks display we got.. oh and my bowl is ruined, has lovely black marks on that I cant get off...
