Question on Paint (The Computer Program)

I want to know how to make something blank again. Like if you already drew on it but want to make it blank again, I tried erasing but it erased the map as well.

Edit, then undo?

Or save the blank map as a template. Then open it and save it as something new each time you are going to draw/paint/whatever on it. So, for instance, if you wanted to show your forecast for snowfall this weekend, open your map template, go to File, then Save As, then name it something like "Snowfall121303," and then start working on it. When you close it, it will ask you if you want to save the changes you made to "Snowfall121303" which you will say yes to, because that's what you want to do. That way, your map won't get erased.

And like I said above, if you draw something and then want to erase only what you drew, go to Edit, then Undo, and then redo it how you want it.

It will only allow you to "undo" a certain number of times. Like Duck said, doing an intermediate "save" or "save as" can cover your butt.

At work we scanned in a map from our clients brochure. It had some unique colors in shaded areas. I had to erase some areas to show a "before" and an "after." I couldn't recreate the color to fill in areas but discovered that you can "box" areas and then copy and paste the color into the area you need to fill. That could also be used to repair something that was inadvertently erased and can't be recovered. I like working with Paint. You can blow it way up and work with individual pixels.

I think Paint has 5 magnification levels - 100%, 200%, 400%, 600%, and 800%. Correct me if I am wrong. Also Ed is right. It has a limited range of undo commands (somewhere between 1 and 3, inclusive). So make sure you know what you are doing.

As to your question, Colin - what are you referring to? You said you need to erase something but it erased the map that you were working with as well. Maybe you can send me the file and I can try to do it for you.
