FORT WORTH, Texas (KXAS NBC5) -- A North Texas woman is recovering Sunday night after her car flipped into the Trinity River as she was driving down Highway 820. Fort Worth police say if it wasn't for two passersby, she would probably have died.
John Munoz and Chris Graves noticed a car in the ditch and several people looking on, so they stopped to see what was going on. They found a woman struggling for air, her car nearly submerged in the murky river.
While others watched, the two pulled off their clothes and jumped in. Police say just minutes later would have been too late.
Police say they think the woman was a diabetic and a medical emergency caused her to pass out and lose control of her car.
