I wonder what other "money-makers" Al Qaida has in its portfolio...child slavery? Prostitution? Protection? They are beginning to sound like, not a fanatical terror organization, but mere criminals.

And having said that, how can they make ANY claims on the authority of the Q'u'ran...which prohibits such activity?

I'm not surprised to hear that - don't forget that poppy-growth for heroin purposes was prevalent in Afghanistan during the Taliban's rule...in fact, it's still a major crop even though the new government there tries very hard to destroy the poppies.
