If Moammar Gadhafi is to be trusted about this it will be great to see one of the most dangerous countries in the world get rid of all their WMD stuff.But I prefer to wait until all of those weapons are dismantled before I can say yes Gadhafi has changed to a moderator guy in the arab world from one of the most bad tyrant regimes in the world.

Trust is a relative term where international politics and relationships are affected.

There are those words spoken loudly and boldly, like these coming from Gadhafi, that seem to set the stage for less tension, more cooperation, and a spirit of hope. Still, all governments, ours included, have underlying intentions in all decisions and relationships that run deep below the surface.

I would, however, rather see such an open admission and readiness to face scrutiny from Col. Gadhafi than a subliminal and distant role. In the weeks and months ahead, we will begin to see whether it is a change of heart or a new manipulation that serves another purpose.

One truth we must deal with, whether with Libya or dozens of other nations....out of our worldwide presence and dominance, no matter how pure our own motives, is growing a new generation of those who will hate our country intensely.

We cannot stop every evil and devious attempt that will come our way and keep fear as a factor in our lives.

I think that Gadhafi totally "lost it" when Reagan sent the bombs over to Libya. We really hadn't heard anything from him since - though he was still stock-piling WMD's. It's probably a combination of fear & manipulation. As Steve said, we'll see in the coming months how trustworthy Gadhafi is, but this is a step in the right direction for sure!

Any country that gets rid of WMD's is doing good for the world. So if Libya gets rid of them, then maybe that's a step up for the entire world.

I agree with you Steve on all of what you said.We have to wait for a few months to pass and then see if what he is saying is going to do will become a reallity.

And what he saw happened in Iraq and Saddam has changed his mind about keeping those WMD as he doesn't want more planes bomb his place.

Well Lindaloo Libya still is in the state department list of the terrorists nations but I sense that the countrie will be off that list as soon the inspectors dismantle all those WMD.When he saw what Iraq has gone thru in the past 8 months he then thinked about the WMD in his countrie eliminating them before that same action turns towards him.But the real eye from the US for a long time has been IRAN and NORTH KOREA which have WMD programs.Iran recently said it will allow inspections of their plants but still NK is defiant and if the diplomatic talks fail then the US must applie the big stick to them even if it has to bomb that youngblon plant inside NK and they threat to fire a nuclear bomb in retaliation.

Bingo. While I'm not a big GWB fan, I admire the job he's done after 9/11 in getting these criminal states to take us seriously. And if we can get the guy with the crazy hair and pajamas in North Korea in line, we'll really be in business.

BTW... he's still Colonel Qadhafi... you'd think as president/dictator, he'd have given himself a promotion by now???
