Just saw this on Fox News. Tom Ridge has a news conference soon. Stay tuned.

I plan on watching the news conference.. or at least glancing at it.

I saw it on my front page of Yahoo!

It's ashame, but from what it sounds like from what has been posted here, it's necessary. Let's just pray nothing does happen.

You know, that is what is so great about this site. I can be watching movies all day and have my computer on and get news that is important to me! I never woulda known about the alert level had I not been on here. Thanks to all the messengers!

I feel that way sometimes, too. I have seen four or five of these new conferences and wonder that same thing, but it is probably best that I don't know. However, today's seemed much more ominous than usual.

Seriously folks, it's just because of the holiday. When's the last time terrorists have attacked on a Christian or American holiday anyway? Isn't that too predictable?

Exactly!! IMO there are too many worries out on american holidays, sporting events, etc. This would be way too obvious, plus they know that we are watching for an attack at or during an event such as this. These terrorists aren't stupid. When they attack again it will be at a place(s) and time(s) we never expected. How many people would have thought they would have used airplanes as missles prior to 9-11-01? I can almost gurantee the next attack will be when we least expect it at a time that we least expect as well.

And so maybe this would be the best time for them to launch an attack. Most people are busy thinking "holidays - they wouldn't do it now".

I also read another bulletin board where it was just posted that FoxNews, in an interview with DOD, stated that this is beyond the planning stage and is in operational phase now. I haven't seen the article, it wasn't linked to read, and I'm going to go search for it.

I'm not a conspiracy nut or anything like that but I simply don't trust some of these folks. Ashcroft just plain P*sses me off. There is nothing like trying to take away ALL of our rights as americans. Who is to say they won't raise the terror level simply for the purpose of their beloved patriot acts(AKA taking away our rights for no reason acts)to make it look like we need extra security via taking away more of our rights. I'm not a conspiracy freak at all but ever since the whole war on terror started, I'm beginning to distrust out government more and more. They aren't doing jack as far as keeping terrorists from crossing out borders but yet they want to take away our rights as americans. Yeah, makes a lot of sense to me. There is nothing about the patriot acts that would keep us safe, they only take away our rights. Why in the hell should we give up our rights? Isn't that what the terrorists want? They don't like what we have as americans, if the government can't keep us safe and keep our rights at the same time, then I would rather live with the threat of terrorism than to live without my rights. Even if we give up our rights, the threat of terrorism will still be there. So, we would lose both ways. We definitely need to take a stance against the government if they continue to give us this take away your rights but we'll make you safer BS.

I heard Rita Cosby mention that as I was flipping through a while ago. She really knows her stuff and has the sources to back it all up.

this terror alert cr@p is a joke, IMO

alert green and alert red essentially mean the same thing
we could be attacked unknowingly, or we could try to be attacked on and fight off the attacker, and both of these scenarios are ALWAYS possibly.
