Whoopy-do ...Gov. Ridge raised the terror alert from "elevated" to "severe".

I have said it several times in the past, I think these coward terrorists just love to play around with the free world's way of life.

Yeah, there could be an event that comes from all these warnings. I don't work for the CIA,FBI or any other intelligence agency, so I am not totally sure how these authorities see it best to increase or decrease the threat level. However, if I were a terrorist, I would keep things under close secrecy to where intelligence of high levels would be difficult to snuff out plans.

9/11/01: They definitely surprised the average America citizen (the government's knowledge is another story for another day). Now that the terrorists have us on edge, they just love to get us up in knots.

I hope this is just a bunch of talk (like it is most of the time). I will not let this ruin my holidays (I will be cautious however) nor will it interfere with anything beyond.

Better we have four "Orange" levels in two years without attack, than NONE before an attack is carried out.

What I can't understand is why we can't get more specific. Those Al Qaeda people are probably sitting in Afghanistan or right here in the US laughing at us.

That color coded candy coated terror alert system is sick. They need to use numbers or something else. This system doesn't work. They cause some people to unecessarily panic.

Al Qaeda is waiting till we shut up to plan their attack. That is my theory. Once we quiet down and stop with this "more chatter was heard, lets be more alert" mentality. They'll strike.

We need to be on high alert all the time. Not just when the system reaches a different color.

I think it's better to be safe than sorry. BTW we are at Orange "high" ..not Red which is "Severe"

I have seen the chatter level run high for many months without the alert level going up. I have read the methods that they say will be used and the cities targeted this time. I am not sure what specific info has triggered this raising of the alert but there is some info that is being held back at this time. It can not be released until it is confirmed from an outside source. I have been told that part of the reason is because the intel suggests that the attack is past the planing stage and is in the operation stage. Red level would be very bad and you don't want to be under red.

If the attack is in the operation stage.. it hasn't happened yet. Maybe we squashed it. Or maybe they're getting everyone in place..

All I know is.. We just have to wait..

??What is the difference if it is color coded or on a numbering system, it does the same thing.

The gov has the details...they just don't want to be specific. All they want us to know is that we should be spending $$$ no matter how high the probability of an attack is.

There are reports that NYS Police are checking all trucks heading towards NYC.
