What is UP with all this POLITICALY CORRECT GARBAGE Doesn't ANYONE wish anyone a "Merry Christmas" anymore? I swear, we were in our Super Walmart today, what a bunch of SOUR PUSSES I swear and to top it off, "NO CHRISTMAS" music playing, finished checking out, I was wished a HAPPY HOLIDAY, I turned to the checker (Michelle hides when I'm with her, if a checker Pis**S me off, I let them know it!) and asked her why she didn't wish me a Merry Christmas, you wanna know her reply???? "We're told NOT to say *that*, it *might* offend someone!" MY @%^, what is WRONG with people nowadays?? Sorry for the vent but this "REALLY FROSTS MY COOKIES!"

Well... what if some Jewish dude comes up and gets wished a Merry Christmas? He would likely sue them or something.... they do have their reasons, even though I see where you're coming from.

"THAT'S" the problem, you hit the nail on the head David! We are SO afraid of offending someone, stepping on someone's toes, we're ASKED to be tolerante of each other beliefs and BY GOD, you'd better, or like you said, they'll sue the socks right off ya!

I ALWAYS stand up for what I believe in. No matter what the cost.. I understand your anger Dennis..seems like Santa is more know than Christ is to some people. Sad but True. HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS weather buddy

I thought "merry christmas" was a tad secular itself.
Now they don't even want santa claus or anything christmas at all. When it comes time for the real faith to show, all the lukewarm people will just fold. Then we'll see.

I still wish people Merry Christmas. I have clients who are of a lot of ethnic backgrounds including Jewish, Chinese, Italian, Mexican, and many more.

I did, however, wish a person Happy Holidays today while I was leaving for lunch. The political correctness works on you if you are not careful.

That is the way I close my callse with each and every customer (happy holidays) unless they wish me a "merry christmas" first.. Still means the same thing, just playing it safe. Dont let it bother you.. Just train yourself to here Merry Christmas in its place lol

MERRY CHRISTMAS (remembering that it is a contraction of "CHRIST'S MASS" or religious celebration of His Birth, according to the dictates of conscience).

I take a different approach and don't say either. In it's place I respond with "you know what they say down at the clinic?...Merry syphilis and have a clappy new year". That usually gets a double take.

That's a good rule of thumb. I work in a grocery store. Unless the customer/associate wish me a merry Christmas or it is obvious that they celebrate Christmas (clothing, purchases, etc), I usually just say have "Happy Holidays."

But I do understand where the starter of this topic is coming from, and fully respect their view. In fact, I, myself, celebrate Christmas. I just feel uncomfortable saying merry Christmas to those I don't know.

For the last week and 1/2 I have been wishing everyone I see - shopping and etc - A Merry Christmas - if its politically incorrect - then so it be - Most will return the greeting and say Merry Christmas too.

I had a boss who was Jewish at a company I worked at - I would give her Christmas gifts and wish her a Merry Christmas and she never took it the wrong way .... people need to chill.

BTW I ain't going to Beer's house either for Christmas LOL....

Now I tell my customers "Enjoy your Holiday Season" or I may say "Happy Holidays" because I probably won't see them until sometime in January. For me it's combining Christmas and New Years.

I'm atheist but I still say happy and merry christmas, but I tend to like the "spirit of the holidays" and "tis the season" and that kind of thing, so recently I have been saying "happy holidays" online, it has nothing to do with being against or disbelieving in Christ.

Also, there are many holidays, you have Kwanzaa, Hcuanaka *yea cant spell it for nothin*, christmas, new years, winter solstice, its just so easy to say happy holidays.

If a non-christian came up to you and said happy kwanzaa or happy hcuanaka, you would be pretty upset, no?

I say "Merry Christmas" because that's exactly what I'm celebrating...Jesus' birth - Christmas. If they don't like it, oh well. And no, I wouldn't be bothered by "Happy Kwanzaa" or "Happy Hanukkah" even though that's not what I'm celebrating.
