Hi all - remember back to 1999 and all the hype about Y2K? LOL What a crazy time that was. I remember waiting for all you know what to possibly break loose at midnight......and thinking, naw it can't happen.

I remember refilling a few prescriptions and when I got to the Pharmacy, they said here are your 11 Rx's!!! I said what? Eleven prescriptions? Turns out they were hubby's brothers Rx's. Whew! That was just one of those things I took care of before Dec. 31st. Not that I was worried but wanted to be safe and not sorry!

I remember nearly everyone talking about. Most thought nothing would happen, they were right, but a few people thought we'd have trouble. I remember the family with 8 or 9 kids, who bought a double wide home, moved to the country in a southern state, maybe Alabama. The father quit his job, they sold a near mansion to move out to the country. This was a wealthy family! They had generators, safe room's, water and food for months on end. Have always wondered what happened to them. Wonder if they went back to the 'burbs?

I have been thinking of the possible "Y2K problems" on and off the last several days. Can't believe how it has already been four years ago!

There was a possible issue with September 9th, 1999 changing to September 10th, 1999, as well. (9/9/99 to 9/10/99); that of course ended up having less problems than those that actually did occur on New Year's Eve into New Year's Day 1999-2000.

LOL I remember, I worked that night, at a gas station back then, and I wanted to know what was going on, so for that day only(!) my boss let me have a radio in there, so I could hear them ring in the new year in the different time zones hour by hour! I got off at 11 pm, and raced to my friends house, picked her up, and regardless of it being colder than heck, we rang in the new year dancing on the hood of my car parked in a field watching fireworks shoot off our Centinnial Bridge!! Fun night!

I do remember Y2k...it was the last new year's eve that I have stayed up until 3 am playing board games with friends! Funny, those board games didn't seem to quit working at midnight! But then, neither did I.

Life has its share of quirks...and Y2k was one of them.

Would Storm2k have ever become a reality without Y2k?

Good question Steve! Mmmm, we'll never know. Remember people were hoarding cash, b/c ATM's were supposed to be down. I stocked up groceries but I certainly wasn't alone. Many people were stocking up. I had a few unusual items in my cart (my unique health needs now - yogurt and TP!). I ran into a woman I knew and underneath my cart I had 64 rolls of TP. She looked at me as if I had suddenly 10 kids! I just smiled. And I had about 20 Dannon yogurts in the cart. LOL Along with the usual, canned goods, milk, bread, soda and of course, BEER!

But my funniest moment was when that Pharmacy clerk tried passing off Jay's 11 Rx's. I called him later and said hey your meds are ready now. Wonder what that bill was? LOL I was happy to only need 1 or 2 Rx's.

I also remember wanting my entire family home that night. I did not want to be scattered - Jim and I out at a party and the kids home with a sitter. I nixed any outing. Just in case...... . If something did happen, and we couldn't get home, I'd be a nervous wreck!

Jacki - I remember staying up listening to the different time zones and realizing one by one, their computer systems didn't go down. They still had power. LOL

Tom - I vaguely remember the concern with the date 9/9/99. And reading articles about it.

Now Steve, we can certainly still stay up until 3 a.m. again! We should challenge eachother! But sigh, Jim and I barely make it to 12:15 that night!

We worked overtime for 11 months revising our software to make sure Y2K was a non-event for our customers. We released the last fixes on Dec 29. Some of our competitors were several months late...

LOL! I remember Y2K. It was my jr. year of high school and my grandparents let hold a party in their basement. We were playing ping pong when they started counting down to the New Year. Right about the time we said Happy New Year one of three lightbulbs in the game room burnt out and some people screamed thinking it was Y2K. They calmed down after they saw that the other 2 lights were still burning.

Ah, good 'ol Y2K. Since I am a computer programmer, a lot of people asked me what terrible things might happen. I told everyone not to worry, that nothing catastrophic was going to occur at the moment the clock struck midnight on December 31, 1999. Luckily, I was right.

I still remember thinking... ummm I wonder if we are going to be able to fly outta here ... would not have been the worst place to get stuck though!

I remember it clearly because my casino was upgrading all of the different computer systems (Accounting, Casino, Hotel) to make them Y2K ready.

I was at work babysitting puters for the US Gov....NOTHING happened and I missed NEW YEARS eve over that CRAP

Sad to see that something that lame caused so much panic.
