JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- Gov. Bob Holden made a friendly bet with Gov. Mike Huckabee of Arkansas over the outcome of the Independence Bowl. The states' flagship universities, Missouri and Arkansas, face each other on Dec. 31 in the bowl game in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The governor of the state whose school loses will travel to the other state to volunteer for a day at a homeless shelter. If Holden wins the bet, he says his Arkansas counterpart will spend a day volunteering at the St. Patrick Center in St. Louis.
