Joan or Monica?

It's sure gone against the grain of sex and violence and ill-willed characters to have Touched By An Angel and now Joan of Arcadia as part of the prime time TV lineup over the last decade or so.
We became loyal viewers of Touched By An Angel in its early years...missing a few and being less dedicated in its last couple of years. Still, the messages were strong and God was not under the rug, but right there in the open.
Joan of Arcadia takes a different approach, but I have found it to be refreshing in its presentation. The web of messages in the subplots help convey some important truths. Too bad it's on Friday night when most teens are out and about.
Just curious of your take; your impressions.
I'm a long way from a perfect anything, and I watch my share of shows with much less substance, but I think it is a great commentary that viewership will support programs like these over the long haul.

I enjoyed Touched By An Angel and now Joan of Arcadia, too.
Wouldn't be surprised if Jason Ritter who plays Joan's older brother, Kevin...is related to the late-great John Ritter.

Jason is John's son. I have read of the cast's special care for him during the loss of his dad.

I loved "Touched by an Angel", and have also taken to "Joan of Arcadia" as well.
The most salient points to be found in both are...
A) God IS aware of us
B) God loves us, and
C) What we do, no matter how "trivial" it seems, has a "ripple effect" on thousands we wil never meet, or even know about, until we are in the Presence of He Who is the Author of all Truth.
Wisdom, indeed.

I hate to say this, but when I first read the topic title in the list, I thought it might be a question about who Michael Jackson looks more like -- Joan Crawford or Monica Lewinsky.
Then I saw it was PoppySky's post and I knew it would be something better.
I liked TBAA. Still haven't gotten into Joan of Arcadia. After seeing "The Ring," it was kind of hard to look at Amber Tamblyn's face and eyes and think of anything but that quick flash of her face when she was dead in the movie. Plus I'm hardly ever home on Friday nights and only think to set my recorder for "Third Watch." Perhaps I'll tape JOA this week and give it a viewing.

The story lines in JOA are all intertwined... a neat change to most shows. Most often, they all come together the last 5 minutes of the show.
This week's message was about making "ripples" in our lives that can be remembered and perpetuated in those who live after us. Neat theme...

Also, Steve, that was some finish when in last week's episode there at the Science Fair that engine (guess it was an engine)
...anyway, 'took off' airborne and bulls-eyed the tank full of water experiment!

I watched it last week. Gotta admit, it was weird seeing her and the little kid from "The Ring" in the same scene. But it was only in the beginning.
Good show, although I'm still trying to figure out who all the characters are (siblings, friends, etc.).

I've heard these two shows are great. I saw an episode of Touched by An Angel once. But here's the thing - I have way too many weekly shows now that I have to watch. Just can't take on anymore right now!

Eric - well I said that, no more, until John Ritter suddenly passed away. And then his show - 8 Simple Rules..... - sounded like a nice show. So now I'm hooked on that one too. Cried when the show's dad suddenly died. My kids looked over at me and said - Mom, you didn't even watch this show before! So true, but boy that was a very well written tribute to John Ritter. See why I can't take on one more show!!!! I already have about a dozen! Way too many.....not to mention Jim calls me a news junkie....that's a whole other subject. LOL

I enjoy 8 Simple Rules, too!
Also, greatly admired John Ritter and he was sure an AWESOME actor and person!!
He'll always be a part of our hearts!
I understand, Wxbuddy, as television, reading, wx sites surfing and fellowship/fun with Wxbuddies are some of my most favorite hobbies!

Now Steve......I already have a full plate, TV show wise......mmmm, maybe someday I'll check it out. For now it's nice to have an hour or two free a week. To putz around on the computer you see......LOL
