I haven't been on the boards for a while but I wanted to know what people think of skydiving. I did it for the first time this fall and it was amazing. I may even do it again. I got pictures and a video out of it as well. Definitly smthg i'll remember for the rest of my life. Anyone else ever been?!

I don't see a reason to jump out of a perfectly good airplane unless it's a military operation. To each his own. I am sure it is fun but not something I want to do.

My husband went a few times prior to our dating days - mid 80s. He hasn't gone since. LOL But he loved it. Me? I'd be petrified! No way would I do that.

Beer, ya beat me to it......I mean seriously, why on EARTH would anyone want to jump for a perfectly good airplane, I get sick to my stomach just standing on a 6 foot ladder!

JQ, glad to hear you enjoyed it!

My hubby has done over 100 jumps, and his Dad over 1000! and was the holder of the South African record for altitude (crazy ol guy still jumps) Ive seen all these guys bitten by the bug and seem to really enjoy themselves. I am too much of a scardy cat to try but I love watching the jumpers out of the plane!!

Good on you for having the nerve to try something Im to scared to try!

If I even *thought* about going and let me tell ya, it scares the ba jibbers outta me just WATCHING them on tv, I'd want at LEAST 5 back up chutes, just in case!

Dont think I would do it.. However.. I would Jump out of a plane, before I would jump from a bridge tied to a rubber band.. lol

A friend of mine was killed New Year's Eve from a skydiving accident at Trent Lott Airport. His chute opened, but the landing is what killed him. He was 34 years old. So no, I would not do it.

Linda - so sorry to hear of your friend's sudden passing. That is tragic. A known risk to sky diving but I'm sure he never thought it would happen. So sad. Hugs going out to you.

Agent, who was a member of a skydiving club, jumped from a plane that was about 45-hundred feet in the air. Witnesses say Agent's parachute appeared to work properly, but he died after a bad landing."

jq,glad you're back for a little while, I did one jump about 8 years ago. loved it and have been itching to do it again ever since. I think my wife is going to do one,her first, this summer for her birthday.

The altitude of the plane can't be that high (cold temperatures and extreme pressure difference)... and I can only imagine the ear popping. I feel awful descending from an airplane, taking off isn't nearly as bad.

Hey guys! Haven't talked to many of y'all in a LONG time! Loved hearing all the stories about your skydiving adventures or your lack thereof. Supposedly the rates are extremely cheap during the winter break..so maybe i should try once more?! To tell ya the truth it wasn't half as scary as i thought it would be. It kinda went a little too fast for me i didn't even get a chance to soak it in. Thats the only reason i wanna try again.

Linda- So sorry to hear about your friend. If smthg like that had happened to someone close to me...i doubt i'd do it either.

Tom, when I did my jump it was from 11000 feet we free fell for the first mile then used the schute the second mile.

Yep, did it and would not want to do it again. Myself & 2 other friends did it a "few" years back over 4th of July, don't think I have been the same since. Glad you enjoyed it jq. my other friends really liked it too.

btw my jump was from 14000 feet. The ear popping was annoying though, but that was the last thing i was thinking about flying through the sky.

Ear popping can be the first thing on one's mind easily falling from the sky.

Tthe extreme cold was the worse.I jumped from 10,000 ft. and when I landed,the wind caught the parachute, and I was literally running with the wind. When I fell,I landed on my knees,but I only ended up with some bad bruises,and very thankful I WAS ON GROUND!!!!!
