Got this from my church...

One of the ladies there was approached by three men on the "Big Lots" store parking lot, and asked to try a "new perfume"...she refused and went to the Sikeston DPS to report it.

She found out that women in this area have been sprayed with some chemical that temporarily blinds them, then robbed. :grrr:

FYI...

Unless someone has decided to make this real, I'm not sure people are actually being robbed that way.

Unfortunately, some people will take myths and make them real....sad world we live in.

The lady in question not only is "real" and a parishioner of my church...she works in the Mayor's office.

She sent the details to all St. Paul's Episcopal Church (Sikeston MO) members in a blanket E-mail this morning, and I have no reason to doubt her veracity.

It is something that could possibly happen if you think about it.

If anything, it's a good piece of information to have tucked away in the back of your brain...

More from the source...the men (3 of them, in suits) used an atomizer bottle, like one might find in any cosmetics counter. The DPS said that the perps have been using common chemicals, watered down, robbing women (alone, of course) and leaving them there.

Time to re-think posting things in "urban legends" pages that could actually be implemented. :grrr:

"Time to re-think posting things in "urban legends" pages that could actually be implemented. ".....I agree with you Streetsoldier!

Several years back, my neighbor told me about a gang that had as a part of initiation procedures bringing back the little finger of a young woman! Seems like the plan was to wait UNDER a vehicle for the female to return to her car, grab an ankle, then when her hand came down to try to get away, the attempt was made to get a finger! True?? You bet!! The neighbor was the Chief of Police's wife......p

I feel the same way about things such as school shootings. Other students see that this brings attention to them, so they try it too. People such as these would be robbers, can't think for themselves it seems, so they have to resort to urban legends, making them a reality.
