Does anyone in your town have the same name as you?
There's a woman here in town with the same name as me

(and it's not a common name). She keeps getting arrested!

Yesterday was her latest escapade! Battery on a police officer and misrepresentation during booking.

She's been arrested in the past for spousal abuse.
People who don't know me well think it is me

At least they publish addresses in the arrest records and most people here know where I live!
Guess I'll have to become incognito

I thought Kathy was a fairly common name. :-?
As for me, let me ask, do any of you personally know anyone named Lyle? Well then...

I went to high school with a guy who had the same name as me (weird for a guy to spell it "Shawn"). Same LAST name also! I'd get called to the office for him and the library got our fines confused! We had to make sure we used our middle initials on everything. I was a senior, but he was a freshman, so it only lasted for one year...thank goodness!

I know ALOT of Shannon's in our own circle of friends....what gets me is all the boys named Shannon, I work with one, and we're both always turning our heads when we hear "Shannon".

Kathy - wow, guess you need to lay real low for a while. And ditto on keeping your ID handy. That would make me nervous too!
We have a rather uncommon last name. My husband didn't know many of his cousins growing up, in fact his dad's family had some sort of falling out. They all drifted apart. About 12 years ago someone tried stealing my car's side view mirror. I came out to the store's parking lot to see the damage, so the store called the police for me. When the officer arrived, he asked all the pertinent questions. Name, address, spouse's address. When I said Jim's name, he said no lady, what is your husband's name....I said it again, and he tapped his badge with his pen. Gave me this smirk. Yes, you guessed it, he was Jim's distant cousin, same exact name. Creepy! I had virtually no knowledge of aunts/uncles name, never met any of them and he was questioning me if I knew so and so. I tried to be nice, b/c well he was a cop. And family! Wait it gets better (or sadder, later I'll explain why). Turns out he and his wife lived in our community, we have used the same pharmacy for years. We'd get calls all the time for their Rx's. Your antibiotic Rx is ready.....we'd shake our heads then realize oh wait, they want the other Jim B.! His wife's name is Marilyn....that's close to Mary. We got an invite to a family reunion once, meant to go to their address. Jim said we should have just crashed that party. But I was nice and mailed it to them, with a note attached - sorry, this came to us by mistake! There's more and this part is very sad......a relative of Jim's died, his mom's side. After the funeral and the burial, we were all walking around the cemetery, to see other relatives' graves and we stumble upon his cousin's, with the same name, tombstome. You see he died young, age 41 of sudden heart attack. We knew about it, people had called us since the newspaper obit said Jim's name. Let's just say Jim had shivers seeing that tombstone. Then everyone got quiet b/c this was a family member, even if distant. We still get calls for his wife, prescriptions, business calls. I finally kept their # handy, to call them if I ever got mail again or calls.
So that's my story. I don't have anyone with my name.

I work at a very large company and there is another employee has has my name (same first and last name). He started at the company about 2 years after I did. For a while, I was getting a lot of e-mails intended for him (since my name appears first in the company e-mail address book). It got so bad that I had to have my department name appended to my e-mail address entry. Since then, I have only gotten his e-mails a few times (and maybe once in the past year)

I have lived several places where there was an Anthony Garner, Jr. nearby, but never had any troubles or other run=ins with him.

We're the only family with this surname for 800 miles around. Fact is, if I find someone with the same surname, they are most likely relatives (except for a small group of Dutch in Ohio, that is...and even they are descended from Danes who migrated to Holland sometime in the 17th Century).

Well.. Seems most American folks have a hard time just pronouncing my name, let alone naming one of there kids Bronwyn... Back home however, there were 6 of us in one grade. My surname is pretty uncommon as well.

I have one under my maiden name. She always got into trouble too and she ended up on my credit report. I had a hard time getting that cleared. She also appeared on my NCIC. That one was no problem to fix. My employer does a complete background check once a year. That is how we found it on my NCIC.
I would check your credit report and NCIC records too CM. You just never know.

Several years ago, there was a lady that lived near us that had the same first and last name as my mom. Talk about a mess! My mom would get phone calls about that lady's bills. Mom even had some trouble getting places to take her checks because the other lady had written a lot of bad checks.

Hey how about a home phone number, just one digit off from other frequently called businesses? Yep, we get calls all the time for either A. a local Vet/Animal Hospital or B. American Family Insurance. There's a Mary at this insurance company. I get so many calls for her and before I can even say this is the wrong Mary (after my kids have handed me the phone), they go into details about their statements and such.
Okay, back to same names.....

LOL Annette!

Why, what have YOU done to tarnish someone else's reputation?? hehe Never mind, don't answer that.
Our name has been uncommon until we moved out here to the midwest last year. Now it's all over the place. There's even a main road in town named for it. It's great not having to spell it out for people anymore!
