NASA, Bush scrapping Hubble telescope

Kind of a sad ending for a machine that has revolutionized our concepts of the universe.

I am completely against scrapping Hubble. I think it's a good piece of machinery that we should still use

Well, supposedly, it was going to be retired in 2010 anyway. Also, the article said that a new space telescope may be launched in 2011. There is already one in space right now. Not a huge loss, considering.

The Hubble has provided an enormous amount of information. I suppose that the proposed replacement will be better.
One correction to the USA today story: The effect that is thought to be causing the universe to expand is called "dark energy," not the "dark force." Shades of Darth Vader! This is the latest mystery, along with "dark matter" in our understanding of the universe.

Yeah.. the new one will probably be more advanced.. going to be fun when we have a station on the moon.

what doesnt bush want to scrap...first its the IBM treaty w/ russia ...now hubble...whats next ---- scrapping mt. rushmore b/c his face isnt there as well???
