Some states, to solve their financial situation, are throwing around taxing the Internet.

Why do that---raise sales taxes if they need the money----dont put a tax on the internet--though i think we already pay a tax to like the fcc or something like that included in our phone/cable bill

Its gonna happen sooner than later. Working for a city govt - its a taxbased that will increase their coffers during this hard economic times.

Well the legislation that was to stop the internet tax was not renew by the Federal Govt - so this is a signal to the lower levels of government that this will be a reality sooner than you think. Talk has been that the it will be effective within 48 months. Unless the federal govt sets up and imposes the ban..once again.
Just a heads up.

The great part about the internet THESE days is that it is still a frontier. Like the wild west, it has its share of good guys, bad guys, and places you shouldn't go. On the other hand, the freedom to share information so readily and quickly among the masses far outweighs the risks of the dark side.
I'm opposed to a tax...but if it must be, then perhaps a surcharge on purchases made online would be a way to start.

This is CRAP!!! We already pay freaking taxes on the PHONE as well as CABLE then you have STATE taxes as well as FEDERAL taxes ENOUGH ALREADY YOU FREAKING GREEDY BASTARDS!!!!
