Girl found dead in Atlanta motel room

#1 Postby BEER980 » Mon Jan 19, 2004 8:57 pm

Ok so there is no murder charge for this?

Girl found dead in Atlanta motel room, could have been in a ritual gone wrong.

ATLANTA (AP) - A six-year-old girl was found dead in a motel room with a broken back Monday after what police said may have been an exorcism. Two adults were arrested after they and two children were spotted on the street naked in the freezing cold.

The adults, who had been staying in the motel room, were charged with cruelty to children, public indecency and obstruction of police and were taken to a psychiatric ward. Police said the girl had been brutalized and suffered a broken back and other broken bones. An autopsy was planned.

Based on what the adults told authorities, investigators believe "they were involved possibly in a ritual of some sort," police spokesman John Quigley said. "It may have had something to do with undemonizing the child in some manner."

Police learned of the death around 12:30 a.m. when the unidentified man and woman were seen walking naked down a city street with two children, a two-year-old boy and a seven-year-old girl, Quigley said.

The seven-year-old provided investigators with information that led them to the motel, where they found the girl's body.

The two adults had apparently been living there for some time, possibly through assistance from a church, Quigley said.

JUST LAST WEEK, I saw a VERY similar episode of "Law & Order, Special Victims Unit" portraying the same crime...wonder where such people get their ideas? :grrr:

They'll likely call the ACLU and claim their right to religious freedom. It's just a matter of time before someone uses that as an excuse to commit murder, ritual abuse, or sexual abuse.

Bill, was it one of the reruns on USA or was it the Tuesday night one? I must have missed it or it was a rerun that I don't remember. How'd it turn out?

No comment. An innocent young girl is dead for some reason. She'll never grow up  I know I want to be a Journalist when I get out of college, but stories where kids end up dead break my heart

AFLAC, it was on a USA rerun...the culprit was a nun who left her Order because she fel;t she had a "higher calling" and practiced the exorcism outside of accepted requisites (mental health consultation, scrupulous clerical examination, etc.) She killed a 14-year-old girl by "driving the demons out" with her fists, then crushing her sternum while the screaming girl was strapped to a bare bed...all the while, her mother was asked to leave and go to a nearby church and pray.

She was convicted of "Murder 2".

"If you show it...they will replicate." :grrr:

Dang, that's rough! Thanks for the recap, Bill! :)

That's about as bad as those cases where the parents hire a "rebirthing" specialist. The child gets wrapped tightly in blankets (sometimes wet ones) and has to re-enact the journey through the birth canal. I've never heard of a case in real life although I'm sure it's happened. But I've seen it on CSI.
