Amtrak president says Bush proposal will shut down railroads

The budget Bush sended last week for funding the railroad system is short of what the amtrak people expected and that may cause the railroad system to shut down.

They've been relying on the government for far too long as it is.

PASSENGER railroads have been on the ropes since 1976...few use them, and several attempts have been made to shore them up w/o success.

CARGO RR, on the other hand, will remain strong...so much of our food, oil, goods and services depend on cargo shipments that I don't envision a decline soon. They ARE a "target of interest" to terrorists, though.
