Spring Break...

Hey ya'll. My grandparents and I are wanting to go somewhere for Spring Break. We have always traveled on Thanksgiving, but this year due to my grandfather being ill we did not. But now spring is here and we are ready to travel.
We have ruled out the Gulf coast just because of the large numbers of Spring Breakers who will be there. I have suggested going to Oregon/Washington. Those are the only two states out west I have never been to (besides Idaho, but we won't count that

).
Do you have any suggestions on where we could go? We're not looking for a lot to do, but some things to see. Any beautiful national parks and such would be a good thing.
Thanks for your help!

I haven't been to Oregon myself (it's one of the few states I haven't visited). But my best friend and her hubby-to-be went there last fall -- he's from there. The pictures they brought back from Multnomah Falls were absolutely stunning! I'd never heard of it before, but it looked so picture-postcard beautiful. I'd like to go when and if I do make it up to the northwest.
That would be my suggestion since the Gulf states and therefore, I assume, Disney (ahem!

) have been ruled out.

If you go to the NW go to the Seattle area. Take a ferry through the San Juan Islands to Sydney, BC and back. Some wonderful pristine beauty in those islands and chances to see whales etc. Many other things to do both in Seattle area and on the Olympic peninsula. Of course there is the Mt. St. Helens area near Longview in the SE part of Washington too.
Oregon has some beautiful scenery, to say the least, with Crater Lake and the falls GD mentioned. The Snake River gorge is beautiful too.

If I ever had the opportunity, I would like to follow the route that the Lewis & Clark expedition took those many years ago.

Garrett, down here on the Gulf Coast your best bet would be Destin, FL. Beautiful beaches and the best looking water on the FL coast IMO. It is forgotten about during Spring Break.

Garrett, that sounds like a great idea. I've never been to Washington, and I haven't been to Oregon in 15 years, but I hear that driving down the Pacific coast is very breathtaking.

Garrett, ya'll can always come to Nashville -
they've got the "Country Music Hall of Fame",
and, you can dine on the General Jackson
showboat. Tour the Ryman Auditorium that
housed the Grand Ole Opry from 1943-1974.
The Music Valley Wax Museum is something
to see, too! Bet your grandparents would
remember alot of the stars and enjoy the trip!
Have fun!

That is exactly where I am heading this summer for vacation. Then on to the Smokey Mountains.

If you head to the Pacific Northwest, make some time for the Snake River in Idaho. Rugged, but beautiful.

Thanks Azskyman.
We usually always go to Arizona. And while I like it there... I want to see someplace new.

We have decided to go to North Carolina for our vacation. I went through part of that state back in 2002, but I would like to spend more time there... especially Kitty Hawk and Kill Devil Hills.
