(KSDK) - It's the latest rage in the search for youth. Its manufacturers claim it's "better than Botox."

Better, they say, because there are no needles, no surgery, and no doctors.

We asked a group of Clayton moms in their late 30s and early 40s to try StriVectin-SD.

Ilene Joseph has used it about one month, "I'm happy to have a new miracle in my life."

The product was initially developed to repair stretch marks. But now it's marketed as a wrinkle fighter.

Erin Nissen said, "I tried it on the backs of my hands. I can't believe the difference."

The makers of StriVectin-SD say the product increases collagen production.

Flora Dulle said, "We feel like we're able to take charge and to do something about this, this aging thing."

StriVectin-SD costs 135 dollars a tube. Lord and Taylor at the St. Louis Galleria can't keep it in stock.

Store Manager Mark Stelzer said, "The response has been overwhelming."

Local dermatologists and plastic surgeons concede StriVectin might help fine lines. But they say, on deep lines, there is no way it is better than Botox.

"Some people might see some results. But I don't think people are going to get what they're paying for," plastic surgeon Dr. Charles Nathan said.

Judy Glik isn't thrilled with StriVectin's result, "The jury is still out," she believes.

But all the women plan to keep using the product, just it case it is an anti-aging breakthrough.

The makers of StriVectin say you should give the product at least 28 days to see results.

StriVectin is sold locally at:
GNC, Sephora, Famous Barr, Lord & Taylor
