It appears that Aristide has left Haiti. I'm glad to hear that he did the right thing. I wonder what kind of new government will take his place, though. At least now, the US will start the food lifts again, hopefully.

Great news that he got out of that country but still comes the most important part first who will govern the country and the humanitarian phase.

Of course his lawyer in Miami(WTH is he doing in Miami?) is saying he is still in power and control!LOL!!! Yeah right!! He has as much control over Haiti as I do.
It is a desperate situation in that county. I pray that someone that can really make a diffierence and is not a power hungry money hog is finally put in office there, by the people and for the people.

From Drudge:
"One diplomatic source in Port-au-Prince said Aristide signed a letter of resignation before he left. His term did not expire until February 2006.
That would open the way for a U.S.-led plan to install Supreme Court Chief Justice Boniface Alexandre, the president's constitutional successor, to head a transitional government. Alexandre is honored for his honesty in a judicial system notorious for corruption. He could not immediately be reached."
With that said, his children were sent to live with their grandparents in New York a few days ago. Three places listed as possible places where he will go seek asylum are Panama, Morocco and Taiwan. Already Morocco and Taiwan have stated they have not heard from Aristide.

I think that he did the right thing as well. I hope that a new government can be installed quickly and restore peace.

Okay, what did this man do? I am confused as to what he has done to start this.

To be honest, I'm not quite sure, but he does not have the respect of the people nor does he have control over the rebels.

I think it is more what he did NOT do. many of the reforms promised did not happen and apparently his last election in 2000 was rigged or at the very least seriously flawed..

Yes, thanks msbee!
This was his second time in power correct? We helped to re-install him back to Haiti?
