NEW PALTZ, N.Y. ? The mayor of New Paltz, N.Y., has been charged with 19 criminal counts for marrying same-sex couples.



Mayor Jason West (search) last Thursday said it was his moral duty to marry homosexual couples. He issued marriage certificates to 25 gay couples.

Ulster County District Attorney Donald Williams on Tuesday lodged 19 counts of "solemnizing a marriage without a license" against West.

This is no different from the Judge that refused to remove the 10 Commandments. When you willingly break the law you deserved to be charged.

Yes, but the State Attorney General wouldn't get involved, because of a possible threat to his bid for the governorship next year.

The state AG would be justified if he got involved. The mayor married couples who didn't have marriage licenses. He broke the law.

Can you charge the attorney general for not doing his job? I am not trying to be stupid... I am serious, like dirlection of duty?
