Kerry and Bush both related to Queen Elizabeth!

This is so cool. From Reuters:

LONDON, England (Reuters) -- The U.S. presidential election will be largely fought over Iraq and the economy, but if royal genes have anything to do with the result, Democrat John Kerry is destined to dethrone George W. Bush this November.

According to a theory its British proponents say has proved surprisingly accurate over the past century, the candidate with the bluest blood in his veins will win the White House. In 2000 it was Bush. This time, it's Kerry.

"Our research is not yet complete but my bet is that Kerry has more royal connections and that he is more noble than President Bush," said Harold Brooks-Baker, publishing director of Burke's Peerage, a guide to the aristocracy.

"But both candidates have a remarkable number of royal connections and both are related to (Britain's) Queen Elizabeth," he added.

Kerry, a Yale-educated war hero from Massachusetts, has all but wrapped up the Democratic nomination and is preparing to take on Republican Bush in what many believe will be the most bitterly fought presidential campaign in history.

I hope Kerry loses bad but that article didn't say how they are related to Queen Elizabeth either. My grandmother used to tell me that I was distantly related to a pirate but I never knew how  .

Big deal...I'm also related to Queen Elizabeth, the Romanovs, Queen Margrethe of Denmark, Kaiser Wilhelm II, etc., and most of the royal houses of Europe over the centuries...with that pedigree and .$.89, I can get a cup of bad coffee anywhere in the U.S.

It's "nice" to know "where you came from", but that doesn't dictate who you ARE, or what decisions you'd make at any given time on a wide variety of issues.

I have a very hard time understanding Americans' fascination with "blue bloods"...we are SUPPOSED to be free citizens of a Constitutional Republic, not subjects of some monarchy or another.

On my maternal grandmother's side Abraham Lincoln is a cousin. :)
Visited his birthplace in Hodgenville, KY in December 2002...he also lived in IN and IL during his childhood and youth years. I visited another place called Lincoln City, IN during my early grade school years. :)
