Turtle...on a TV near you!

Hello everyone!
Since we're talking about TV here...you have probably seen yours truly on a TV set near you recently.
While I was at the AMS meeting last February (2003) in Long Beach, I was videotaped by a production company that worked with NOAA and The Weather Channel. My "sound bites" were on recently in two of the "Forecast Earth" shows that have aired on TWC. I'm in "When Seconds Count" (at the VERY beginning) and "Coastal Storms," when talking about "The Perfect Storm" which affected the New England coast.
However, there's another long term project I've been working on since January of 2003 that has truly kept me totally engrossed (literally) on another website as a mentor, and having absolutely NOTHING to do with my job. Let me explain...
Last year was my 25th high school reunion from Quincy High School, south of Boston. Well, while my classmates were planning the reunion, we were contacted by Dateline NBC to take part in an unusual project, what they call the "Dateline NBC Ultimate Diet Challenge." Six members of the Class of 1978 (yep, the BLIZZARD year was when I graduated HS) would follow 6 different diets, and have their progress monitored by Dateline camera crews leading up to the reunion last Columbus Day weekend.
Well, long story short...I was one of the 6 "participants" on the "Ultimate Diet Challenge," which included the class jock and homecoming queen, and have been on national TV 4 times since last April, including a follow up segment called "Keeping It Off" two weeks ago. If you have seen the shows, I was known as the "math whiz," because I was the president of the Math Team during my senior year of HS.
If you have Windows Media Player or Real Player on your computer, you can see the March 14th segment on your computer! Go to the following link:
http://www.vmsdigital.com/MyFiles.aspx? ... 931837412D
and you can view it. It's about a 10 minute segment. Also, if you don't have the viewers on your computer, here are the links on the Dateline NBC website for the transcripts of both the March 14th show, as well as the hour long "finale" from January 4th, which included coverage of the reunion.
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4488471/ for March 14th's show
http://msnbc.msn.com/ID/3841501/ for the January 4th show
NOTE: The link for the video does "die" soon (not sure when though). So, if this post stays on for a while, the link may not work. Just to let you know.
Believe me when I say that this past 14 months have been a truly SURREAL, amazing experience, and one I wouldn't trade for the world. And that's a big reason why I haven't been here on this website as much as I'd like. But got really intrigued when the DH and I were talking about the Brazilian hurricane, and just knew I'd see great info here on Storm2K!
I hope I'm not being to presumptious by sharing my story with all of you here. I'll try to stop by here every now and then, but I'm really busy over on my weight loss coach's website helping out as a mentor there. I'm even a "buddy" to a good weather friend from Long Island that's started the weight loss program I'm doing, and he's lost over 25 pounds in less than 2 months!
Enjoy!
