Yes...saw that too... Jean Meserve said that in a conference call today that a large scale terrorist attack is "almost certain". In addition, this time, unlike times previous... all intelligence groups unamimoulsy agreed to raise the level.

Time is the mother of all burdens. We shall see.

Yes indeed, we need to be ever on our guard, never ceasing in our efforts to squelch any type of suspicious acts we see. Living in Az, I know some of these slime balls have crossed the southern boarder, I've seen the so called boarder patrol in action, gives me the hebbie jebbies just thinking about it!

Tom Ridge has asked ALL the state Governors to deploy either national guard or other extra law enforcement to their own critical infrastructues in each state.

time for hubby to leave for work early again...when the terror alert is raised the gates to get on the air force base are very strict. Concrete barricades block the entrances and they require a full inspection of all vehicles entering. personally, I believe that this is a wonderful thing...but he gets a little frustrated while sitting in traffic waiting to get inspected

Smart move...

Its worth the extra money to be on higher alert now... Were going to war with terorist... ALERT NEEDS TO BE AT A ALL TIME HIGH!

Yes, I believe they wanted to raise it to severe but were afraid it would cause a panic. Actually, I think they would like it to be between orange and red. (higher than the previous ones but not all the way to the highest) Didn't someone post something about this a few days ago? I don't think I ever read that thread. (shame on me!) lol

Does anyone know if this has this happened before? Is that normal for a high alert? :o

No, the National Threat Level will not be raised to Red unless there is a specific threat regarding a specific target or if an attack is in progress somewhere. With the level at Orange, additional security procedures will now be implemented and operations will be tightened. Watch the airport security tomorrow - Tuesday; no more parking or stopping near the buildings again, additional searches, etc. Critical infrastructure will be locked down further. BTW Southerngale, yes, the Governors have done this previously and since security operations are continually evolving and expanding within the states with new procedures and additional preparations, some states will have central operations centers established to work the issues. They've drilled, the've tested scenarios, they've got plans. Our governor was on the news tonight discussing these additional security implementations. However, preparations are essential not only for business, but for individuals and families too. Call your loved ones & friends and at least get in tough with them and have a peaceful conversation while relative calm (and non-jammed phone service) still prevails. God Bless.

Southerngale... I posted how they had wanted to place divisions inside the colors (mainly orange) so that they could move to a higher plane without going to red.

YEh i heard on Bill Maher's new show on HBO that they are calling the color..."Hard Orange" (no joke). I dunno if it actually went through or what is going on with this?
