France may be drinking too much of their own exports, but they're not that stupid to support terrorism against us. Granted, new alliances will be built/broken due to this conflict, and a new geo-political climate will emerge but France has too much to lose by supporting terrorism. Now their actual capabilities, and their self-assessments of themselves are two completely different things! As for Captain Insaneo retreating into exile - he could try to pull a fast one and fly the coop so to speak which we really don't want, but it's more than likely that he, his sadistic son Udom and his 20 doubles will be playing the 'shell game' - ' where am I?' etc. Assume every one of his former palaces are now toast waiting to happen, assume the coalition, along now with Australian troops and others who have joined, will be stragegically applied like an exacto on some ripe cheese - say an aged cambert...with a bottle of Vouvray to wash it all down. Let's call it: Happy Hour :Fade-color

Just remember how El Presidente y Generalissimo Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna tried to escape after the battle at San Jacinto...wearing a peon's serape, rather than the resplendent military uniform in which he was always seen previously.
The Texicans found him then...and THIS Texican will find Saddam, "with his boots on", sooner or later. I wonder if that $25 M reward would be paid out for this guy...?
i dont think yall get it

Maybe the U.S. won't "get him" in France, but remember the "Sword of Gideon" team Israel sent out to kill the 1972 "Black September" murderers?
They did it once...IN France, and elsewhere...and they can do it again.

Saddam has plenty of people that have a score to settle with him. His life expectancy is not looking real good whether he stays in country or choses exile.

He won't leave... that would make him an embarrasment to his people. He would rather die a martyr.

Based on his interview with Dan Rather, this seems correct - but you never know what he will do when he is faced with imminent disaster. I don't think that he will really care whether or not he is an embarassment when he is running for his life.
