I wish it was that easy!!!! In theory it is because we still have the power to physically squash any nation on this globe with our remaining nukes. Unfortunately it actuality it is not that easy due to "POLITICAL CONSIDERATIONS".

There is alot more than political considerations, if killing an estimated 22.5 million people is a political just a political question then we have alot of problems. now sure it would probably only be less than a few million.
But, I guess it could become necessary if we didn't think we could effectively erradicate their offensive in non-nuclear ways. So I guess it is political, but it is touchy as well.

NORTH KOREA'S MILITARY MIGHT
Missile Capability
Between 600-750 ballistic missiles
Nodong missile (1,300 km range)
Longer range Daepodong 1 (1,300 km) and 2 missiles are believed to be under development.
Daepodong 2 could target U.S. sites in Guam, Alaska and the U.S. west coast.
Nuclear capabilityThough North Korea has not declared itself a nuclear power, the U.S. says Pyongyang has admitted to possessing nuclear weapons.
U.S. intelligence estimates North Korea has enough weapons grade plutonium for two to five nuclear devices.
The U.S. also says it believes North Korea has began reprocessing spent nuclear fuel rods which, if successful, could contain enough plutonium to produce between six to 12 nuclear weapons.
Chemical/Biological weaponsNorth Korea has the world's third largest stock of chemical weapons.
Included in the arsenal is mustard gas, phosgene, sarin and V-agents.
Pyongyang also has an active biological weapons program.
Its inventory is believed to include anthrax, botulism, cholera, hemorrhagic fever, plague, smallpox, typhoid and yellow fever.

can you imagine how miserable the people of north korea are? that govt doesnt have much life left. this isnt 1950. if their army tried to invade the south it would be cut to pieces.

That was such a bold headline - it makes me wonder why we hear so very little about North Korea and what is happening there that would allow them to make such a strong statement.
Maybe because the war in Iraq and the Presidential campaigns are taking major headlines over here? I rarely see articles about North Korea in the news. There must be an awful lot of frustration in NK for headlines like that one.

We must be concerned about any more threats of war. The one we are involved in is too much, much less to add another one.

Media hype is all it is. They have nothing to report so they find things to report because it is an election year here in the United States.

War and the threat of war seems to be inevitable. I'm not just talking about the U.S. and present day. World history is full of wars, from Ancient Greece (Athens/Sparta) to the Roman Empire to the World Wars to the wars of today. There were peaceful times in the world, don't get me wrong, but there has been an awful lot of bloodshed. I know the threat exists, but I try not to think about it all too often. It kind of makes you lose hope in mankind. My worrying isn't going to make the situation any better, so I don't let these things bother me. If the time comes that I have to deal with such a situation, I will then. No reason to live in fear. But that's just my take on the situation.

I agree, Jennifer! With this stuff, I have very little or no control over what may or may not happen. Thus, I am not going to give myself an ulcer worrying about the possible. I use to worry about this stuff a ton back in high school (late 90s). I guess I wore myself out with the negative talk, and looked to more positive things of life!

If it happens, it happens!
