For the S2K folks who are out of the loop- this is why I can't sit on my bench. If I do, I'd kill these fascinating things.

This was the first photo:

A week later, I posted this update. I didn't want to get to close to the bench, because I alway try to respect wildlife and give it it's space.

Then it snowed:

I wasn't planning on doing an updated photo shoot until tomorrow.

What beautiful lichens Will! Love those little fellas! They are a wonderful example of symbiosis..............just go ahead and sit on 'em...they won't hurt ya!........p

At least they're not growing on you.

We had a bench that got infested with carpenter bees. When we brought it in and it warmed up......
