Miss Mary's post about "wanting the old Storm2k back" is a symptom of it. So are the recent posts that are "apologetic" in nature. Then too are those comments of a political nature which are often inflammatory.

Seems we are especially sensitive these days to a host of things going on here.

I suspect, however, that these prickly, disturbing and sometimes painful exchanges are symptoms of some bigger issues that surround us.

We are all searching for better days...happier times. Instead we continue to see images of cheering Iraqis burning and killing. We feel that no real closure of this conflict is near. A good day is defined as one in which no new troops are murdered in the streets.

And while we are holding our breath for some new direction with more promise, we are struggling with a winter that is slow to end, gas prices that steal from our half-empty wallets, and an economy that seems poised to grow but much more likely to succumb to bad news when it breaks.

We know, too, that neither President Bush nor Senator Kerry can change all that we hope to change overnight. We have come to understand, too, that there will be a "next" chapter in terrorism's ugly book. And we are tired of that reality.

Let's keep in mind here that Storm2k is made up of a lot of good people. Different people, but very good people. We all carry the burden of these dark days and sad times. Together still.

But right in the middle of such dark days can be an opportunity for a new friendship to blossom, words of assurance to do some wondrous things, and well-timed messages of encouragement that can remind us why we stop here for a hug or a handshake.

I do not believe that Storm2k is unfulfilling these days. Instead it is all that influences us as we go about our daily lives.

Storm2k is a wonderful safe haven still. It is built on a foundation of rock, not shifting sands. And with its common interest in a sky full of excitement and beauty, it has the heart and soul to survive any test that comes our way.

Let's continue to use it in ways it is intended.

If we do that while our search continues for happier times...it will surely be a wonderful place to rejoice and celebrate when those good days show up on our doorstep.

I really believe we need to get back at looking inside for answers...and some will still be found right here at Storm2k.

The war on terror is a test of wills. This site is still a shining beacon of light.

What a great post STEVE!! Its sad whats happening in Iraq these days. I for one didn't expect it to be this difficult, but in that same breath i sort of did. Its a really tough time. But we will get through this. Glad to see people are addressing this problem w/ storm2k as well. Smthg has happened as of late. Alot of short fuses etc, but I still love the place and want it back to the way it was.

I learned through hard experience that what was lost cannot be regained; rather, one must pick himself, up, dented armor, rusty sword and all, and soldier FORWARD.

I speak as one whose "yesterdays" far outnumber his "tomorrows".

We were taught that as kids and now teach our kids those same lessons which they should take with them when life gets tough. Those are good coping mechanisms which builds a stronger character.

What you all have done the very best at is eliminating persons who view weather boards simply as another internet forum to display thier anti-social behaviors. I do not have a problem with spirited, even heated, point-counterpoints on an issue. But at least one out of every 5 seek soley to inflame and this can be on a sports board, stock board, anywhere. To a degree as to compared to current events they are internet terrorists with a woeful cry that if prohibited from being granted access their speech right are being oppressed. You all have taken some really undeserved criticism and although not without some counterpoints myself it is clear to me that S2k is remarkable effective and efficient and has not succumbed to the pressures of a minority who wish to cultivate this site as another opportunity for their own agendas of bash fests.

What was the old STorm 2K like? It seems as if politics causes much dissension in here. Maybe, that is the difference.
