This sounds bizarre, and hopefully no one will take up this call to arms.

CAMPAIGN RAGE: FLORIDA DEMOCRATS PLACE NEWSPAPER AD CALLING FOR RUMSFELD HIT; FUNDRAISING FOR KERRY

Campaign 2004 turns extreme in Florida with the placement of a newspaper ad calling for physical retribution against Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld!

"We should put this S.O.B. up against a wall and say 'This is one of our bad days,' and pull the trigger," the ad reads.

MORE

The call-to-arms fundraising ad, placed by the St. Petersburg Democratic Club in the current issue of the GABBER, a local St. Petersburg paper, asks readers to make an urgent donation to the John Kerry campaign.

Club Vice President Edna McCall told the DRUDGE REPORT Tuesday morning: "We want to get our country back. In Iraq, we're in deep trouble. If we don't try to get this situation cleared up, we are finished."

When asked if the ad was a challenge to inflict violence on Rumsfeld, McCall explained: "'Pull the trigger' means let Rumsfeld know where we stand, not to shoot him!"

"We are getting raped, and they are planning to steal the election again."

McCall said her club is in direct contact with John Kerry campaign.

"We're all working together."

The publisher of the GABBER says running the ad with the passage "pull the trigger" was a mistake that "slipped through" during the editing of this week's edition.

HOW STUPID!!!! MISTAKE IS A GROSS UNDERSTATEMENT!! They will be lucky if their organization isn't shut down afte and ad like that!!! And Kerry's campaign better come out swinging against them if they hope to continue any credibility they have.

Oh my gosh, let it go! Nobody stole the election. Geesh, that is getting old.

Yeah, I bet it "slipped through" the editing. How convenient. I agree David, but I wouldn't count on Kerry speaking out against them. His previous actions suggest he won't. If he does, it'll surprise me.

The "Gulfport Gabber" (Gulfport is south of St Petersburg) is not really a newspaper. It's more of a small town news sheet with local town news and ads. To call it a newspaper is a real stretch. As a resident of Gulfport I'm really embarrassed that they let this get printed. I can assure you that their phones are going to be busy this week.

I heard on FoxNews last evening that the Kerry camp is trying to distance themselves from this attack...and, I hope they do not succeed.

Speak for me as well, Marshall. :)

Tell them if that's the best editor they've got, they might check a local daycare for a kid wanting some bubble gum money. 8-)

As much as I like the media.. and as much as I am a developing journalist..

How idiotic is it for a newspaper to put a story like that in there..

It's Worse

than idiotic. To advocate doing bodily harm or killing a Government Official such as the President, a member of his Cabinet or members of the Federal Judiciary or Legislative Branch is a FEDERAL CRIME-those who printed that ad and who wrote and placed that ad could be in some really serious trouble.

democrats play for keeps. the sad thing is they are weak on national defense, but they will stop at nothing to gain power. dont worry though, this, like senator dodds remarks, is a non-issue, because the partisan media is working for kerry

john, the media is working for kerry. the sad thing is dems feel their enemy is republicans. ita a shame they cant get as worked up about killing terrorists.
this is the dem party of today. they will put out an ad advocating the killing of bush officials, but at the same time they undermine the morale of the nation at home in the war on terror.

Democrats and republicans are two different parties with different views. Makes you wonder why there are attacks against another party simply over views they disagree with. If they came together after 9-11, why are they against each other now when we're supposed to fight and win a war on terrorism???? It seems like that's simply better known as the game of politics. Sounds sick doesn't it?
