Sit outside under the verandah of the house and watch the rain and lightning (if any) until the lightning gets too close.

While others run for cover, I usually am outside taking it all in. There is nothing like a good storm to stir the adrenalin!
I had a neighbor once who told me that instead of paying attention to the tornado warnings that were posted for our town, he would simply look over and see what I was up to.
If I was outside checking it out, then he felt safe. If I was nowhere to be seen...he scrambled to the basement.
