I think that the statement about Iraq was very forceful and strong.Now comes the press questions.How do you evaluate his statement and answers to the press?

So far he has handled the press questions in a good manner and answering all of them.

He tap danced around the tuff quetions, such as WMD.

watching oblivious!! there is no point in watching. the partisan press wants us to lose, and kerry to win. if the american people decide to go the way of spain in nov and go belly up, we are through as a world power.

He's not one of the best speakers but I think he is on message and believes what he did was and still is right. I happen to agree and he'll get my vote this November.

Well I had it on, but was also browsing S2K. I don't remember any of it.

(When I say it I mean it) Those words at the end from him were powerful and makes me think he is a sure winner in november.If I had the chance to vote I would do so for Bush but here in Puerto Rico I can't.

Exactly! His ending words were absolutely forceful! He had that "Mean it" look in his eyes as well.. I think that last reported hit the wrong wire. lol

I agree he is not the best speaker, but I prefer substance. Our previous President was a good speaker, but the buc stopped there He has my vote as well

I am not sure I really thought he was very nervous. I agree he isn't one of the best speakers. Like I said. I don't like Kerry but Bush Blew it on this press conference in my opinion. I loved his opening statement. He seemed a tad nervous in the beginning. Then He couldn't answer simple questions. He repeated himself over and over. This is the man who leads our nation. I understand we all have bad days. He didn't seem very confident and ran from tough questions... That makes me nervous. Sorry just being honest.

Pres. Bush says what he means....and means what he says! He was strong and firm. I feel very good about this press conference.

Absolutely; it's nice to see someone willing to step out of the confines of partisanship every once and a while. We can never know for sure what goes on behind closed doors, but repeated poor performances in press conferences and/or interviews does have to lead one to question the man's intelligence and personal effectiveness. One can easily agree with him on issues and applaud the major decisions he has made, but still admit that he may or may not always be prepared to face the tough questions and back those decisions up in front of the American people.

I am not a big fan of either Bush or Kerry, but in the case that I were to be 18 this coming November I would most likely vote for the latter. I understand that being a poor speaker should really have no more bearing on one's presidency than having a private extramarital affair (ahem), but for me it is impossible to wonder whether the poor speaking is simply a natural weakness of his, or possibly an indication of a deeper lack of intelligence and personal ability to face the music when his sidekicks aren't acessible to him? Just my thoughts; those suspicions very well may be invalid, but either way I think what's important here is to recognize both the weaknesses and strong points of Presidents (and Presidential candidates!) of any and all parties, regardless of your own affiliation.

Johnathan I understand what you're saying. However having seen plenty of good people have trouble when speaking I look to content and not so much delivery. I wish he was a better speaker but when I look into his eyes I see a man who truly believes what he says.

He seemed tired and burned out.

I don't agree. I sent $100 to Kerry tonight and plan to do that about every 10 days till the election. Not that I enamored by Kerry. Its just that the Bush people appear to be clueless on all fronts at this point and in my opinion are dangerous to the republic and ultimately democracy.

I sent Kerry $25 tonight for a total of $150.00 so far.

One challenge of President Bush is that he lacks the personal confidence in speaking that was so uncomfortably "comfortable" in Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton loved himself to a fault, of course, but was able to tranquilize with his speeches (perhaps why he commands $600k for a speech these days).

Of course, the body part that still speaks the loudest about Bill Clinton had nothing to do with speech...except maybe Monica's.

President Bush has some vision...and recognizes it will take sacrifice to get there. That is what counts most.
