inflicted upon me this evening. It was about 5:30 and I had our "torty shell" cat lying on my chest. The NOAA weather radio alarm went off and this generally nervous cat slit me open in about 7 areas from my naval to my chin in her desperate attempt to flee the offending siren. The cut just under my chin was especially nasty and took almost 10 minutes to stop bleeding. Tonight's gym workout and shower afterwards were a rather stinging proposition. Any B positive doners out there? Thanks

Sounds like a one-of-a-kind accident. Hoping for a quick recovery for you!

She is a beauttiful cat and the smartest I have ever seen, talks in cat chip and I swear the talk is a times varying based on situation but like most generally black to black cats I have been around she is simply a nervous sort. I really did not get mad as the siren was startling and man did she haul as* out of there-just unfortunately her launching pad was me.

Just the sound of the weather alert going off can be enough of a rush! But a cat sinking all fours into the skin....OUCH! Which made the loudest wailing sound, the radio or you?

And then salt in your wounds at the gym... Guess that means you didn't blow away in a storm which, of course, is good news.

Hope you heal before the next storm comes your way.

I guess the next time the SPC places a risk of severe storms over your area, rubber pads maybe in order, eh?

I have a weather radio that has the option of turning the alarm's tone down. I use this setting when my dog is sleeping in my room (usually when it is storming outside).

One time while sleeping at the g/f's house I had a cat experience. Normally the door is closedin the bedroom, so that cat can't come in but one night was an exception. Her dog likes to sleep under the blankets on the bed. Well, the cat found its way onto the bed during the night. It decided to go for a walk to the end of the bed. The problem was the dog was under the blanket right where the cat was headed. The cat stepped on the dog, the dog barked and wow did that cat fly. The problem was it landed right on my face!! Its claws were deeply imbedded in my skin. I bled quite a bit and it was quite painful but I couldn't help by laugh extremely hard. That must have been quite a shock for the cat to be walking on the bed and encounter a dog under the blanket. LOL I can say it definitely scared the the daylights out of that cat.

Oh, man ... LOL ... LMAO ... I'm sorry, I can't stop laughing ... that's bad that the cat ended on your face, OUCH!!! ... But I've had several cat experiences, primarily with my own cat ... and the scars on my leg prove it, ranging from when she jumps on my lap, starts scratching at my leg like it's a scratching post, etc ... but most all the time, the factors involved ... I'm eating FOOD and she wants it, too.

One time, a neighbor's cat, a big furry gray cat came up and drank some water in a bowl that's placed outside for my cat ... I was heading outside to smoke a cigarette (since I don't smoke inside the house), and the cat didn't notice me... I tried to pet it (I kinda grabbed a little hard), and the cat LITERALLY JUMPED 2-3 FEET HIGH and ran off like a bat out of hell ... the way that the cat jumped and twisted around in mid-air was priceless ...

I learned the hard way about kitties and new noises. I've got a feral black cat that is just starting to get accustomed to being petted. I also got a new coffeemaker with an alarm on it that goes off when the coffee finishes brewing (much nicer than a regular alarm clock). First time that thing went off, I was petting feral kittie on his head. His eyes popped way open and his mouth clamped into my hand like a rabbit trap. Needless to say, I learned to stay away from silly cat until coffee has finished brewing.

Ouch and double ouch!!!
