The light is at the end of the tunnel and that light being, that it's ALMOST a necessity in Arizona to able to speak and understand Spanish, SO.....ole snowman's learning speak Spanish via CD'S. While on the job site, I have 6 CD'S that "learn" me how "LOL!". Anyone else learning, already know a different language other than English

I took spanish in junior high and high school. Unfortunately, I was taught the language by people who spoke native "Kentuckian," so I didn't quite learn all the correct pronunciations, which I'm finding out the hard way down here in TX.
novia = bride
novilla = sheep
The double L is pronounced like a Y, like in tortilla. But I always have to think about where to put the accent when I say one of those two.
It's really difficult to understand when someone else is talking to me in Spanish because, in school, we didn't do as much communicating back and forth as we should have. I can read it, write it, and say it (for the most part, even if I don't know what I'm saying, I can pronounce it). However, trying to decipher when it's coming at me at 20 mph in spoken form rather than written?

I'm lost.
Good luck, Dennis! I'm sure having CD's so you can hear it will help when someone talks to you. Do you have books also so you can see how the words are spelled?

Its great your learning a new language Dennis. Coming from a country that has 12 offical languages (you should see the lable on a tin of beans... it goes right around the can!) Most people I grew up with are fluent in at least 3-4 languages. I speak English, Afrikaans and Zulu. My Zulu is not so good. I can also understand Dutch, Flemish and a little bit of German.

We could be the Three French Hens.

Unfortunately, I only know that song and a couple of Billy Joel songs with French in them. Oh, and "Frere Jacques."
I'd be okay with the name, but would you two really want to be known as "hens?"
Wouldn't the name draw a larger male audience than female audience? That would kinda defeat the purpose for me.
Besides that -- I can't sing, I can't play an instrument, and I sure as heck couldn't be a lyricist if I don't know the language.
Real party pooper, aren't I?
