JOSE LUIS RODRIGUEZ ZAPATERO made good his promise when he won the elections last month that he would order the troops to get out of Iraq by june 30th but today he said that the troops will pull out from Iraq as soon as possible. Now the question is how Al-Qaeda reacts about this but the new prime minister has said in past days that Spain will not cave into the truce that OBL offered in an audio-tape.

Yes, we knew it was coming. I agree. But I will feel sympathy should they be bombed again. They are NOT the enemy... Al Qaeda is.

And the terrorists won. Do they really think that by complying with their demands will stop them from attacking Spain again? Can we say LOSER?

That's not true. Spanyards were against the war in Iraq, and pm Aznar decided to partecipate even if more than 80% of them expressed their "no to war in iraq". The same happened in Italy, pm Berlusconi decided to partecipate regardeless what the people was expressing: a big NO.
And talking about terrorism, partecipatetion to the war did not make them safer, why should not partecipating be more dangerous?
As a matter of fact, none of the european countries partecipating to the war did it because the people wanted it, but just because the govts wanted to put a finger in the pie.

While many in the international community see the United States as creating "an environment that encourages terrorism," there are many in this country and elsewhere around the world who see an "era of vulnerability" on the doorstep in Europe. Spain is the latest example.

The UN was not the answer...and still is not. It was rendered powerless by its own inability to act and police its decisions.

If support of the proactive US initiatives that followed the attack on our soil are not seen as just, then that leaves those who question our leadership, it clearly leaves Europe more vulnerable to future challenges without support of either the US or a UN that has the ability to carry out any protective measures.

It will likely take years of deteriorating international relationships and/or an absolute will and testament to the people of Iraq by the USA and its remaining feeble coalition to bring out a new international order that has much more substance and capability to oversee world hotspots.

THAT is an opinion and you are certainly entitled to it...but I think its BS, and that's my opinion.

I think it's more reasonable to expect there would be little to no financial gain (this IS what you mean by finger in the pie???), by aiding in the liberation of Iraq, otherwise, don't you think France would have been at the head of the line begging to help???
