Wow. I don't think i could do that. I'd just go who cares about the commotion they're my kids.

I know i'm just saying i couldn't do that. I'm sure the parents would get a kick out of Bush coming anyways. not like he had to speak or anything.

I can't believe he's actually skipping the graduation ceremonies of his own daughters. What a nit wit. Commotion or not.. I'd go if they were my daughters

I think that was very considerate of them. I'm sure that they would love to see their daughters graduate, but it was nice that they thought of the other families first.

I'm sure they'll be watching from live video nearby. That's a very noble gesture of them to make. The focus should be on the graduating class, not the President.

He should have gone to support his daughters. Most people would have understood the need for more security, and some would have enjoyed seeing the president.

Well, when you consider that OBL just offered a gold reward for Bush, Bremer, and others, it's probably best that he not go to the ceremony -- safer for him, less hassle for others.
Imagine being a family member of one of the other students and having to go through all those security measures and checkpoints, just for a graduation ceremony. I'm sure it would be 10 times worse than what it is when going through an airport. I remember all the searches and stuff we had to go at UK ER when Clinton came to Lexington and we weren't necessarily even going to see him. They posted a secret service agent there with us to alert us in case POTUS was coming in. They kept one trauma bay available at all times. They had blood ready for transfusion. And no one was allowed back to visit families unless we accompanied them and knew where they were going. We had our ID badges on and a special one that showed we'd been cleared. All the doors were kept secured by posted security guards. (I've gone back to visit after moving here and it's way more secure since 9/11. I'm glad. We used to have people wandering in and out where they didn't need to be.)
