As seen by recent events, along with the Nasdaq values at -25.00, the stock market is expected to take a quick plunge or drop in the opening half an hour. I have heard some say the DOW may reach -100.00 within opening the first hour or so, before it levels off...

DOW is down 100 points to 9912.10, or a change of -1%. Hopefully this will stabilize soon.

Futures showed it down about -160.00. That should (hopefully) be the bottom.

The sad thing is I just got back in the market two weeks ago. I hope we don't see 9000 before 11000

Why would that send the market back up?? Just curious. It would make me nervous as in investor to the instability in the region.

I'm glad that it didn't go down any further and actually rose 50 pts.

I would've thought the same thing Garrett, but we'll just have to keep our fingers crossed and hope for the best. Perhaps the investors are developing a tougher skin. I know I should - I'm not even going to take a look at my 401K for a while!

uh oh... I bet people are selling off before noon and we will see an early afternoon rise before a big sell off this afternoon. It is one of those days when you don't want to be a day trader.

I've looked at my 401k Steph, as I do every day. I have 80% in a small capital growth fund which went crazy in 2003. I've been reluctant to move it around but I'm seeing some pretty ugly numbers. The 4% guaranteed funds are looking mighty attractive now.

I'm pretty well diversified in my 401k plan - 50/50 between stocks and bonds. I've been doing fairly well this past year and the bond fund has helped to prevent serious losses over the past two or three. I tend to re-allocate my money twice a year as well.

Garrett - you can never time the market. I think there's been reports on "day traders" that have pretty much said that they don't do any better than the average person who leaves their money in for the ups and downs.

Man, the stocks are plunging!!

Still not as low as when the market opened this morning, but that's not a good sign.

I was hoping that the worst would be the opening. Guess not!!!

Look for them dive sharply right before close.
