So, has anyone noticed shorter lines or no cars in their local gas stations so far?

There were two that I noticed that were empty that usually have cars in them. One had a line - it's the cheapest and a small station and one that I frequent only had one car instead of the two or three there.

My boss said that the gas stations that are by him on Brigantine Island (outside of Atlantic City) were EMPTY.

Gas station by me is fairly empty as well. But time will tell today if people are stopping or not stopping. Current price outside the office window is 1.99 for unleaded.

I heard it mentioned on the news, so that will help get the word out more than just e-mail and MB's. I'll be interested to see the results.

It's still a very stupid idea. If people don't fill up today, they will just fill up tomorrow(or filled up yesterday), so it makes no difference. People still have to go to work which burns gas. The planes that fly today also run on... FUEL.

Radio stations here have been reinforcing "Don't by gas today" also.

Saw gas at a $1.99 a gallon this morning driving to work!!!

Awesome about the tv and radio. Brent, call it stupid if you want, but if you were buying gas at prices like these, you'd be boycotting too.

I actually will be soon. I turn 16 in July. I'm not looking forward to it either, but it's still a dumb idea. People WILL have to buy gas eventually. Not buying it today will do NOTHING to lower prices.

Oh and people in other countries are paying a lot MORE than we are. We have THE LOWEST gas prices in the world.

I looked at every gas station on the way to work today. Most of the larger, busier ones like Gate and Hess only had 1 or 2 cars in it, when usually they are pretty busy even at 6:30 am. I passed a couple that didn't have any cars getting gas.

I didn't notice unusually long lines yesterday at the pumps but tomorrow we may. I think more importantly it will send a message to the oil companies that we're unhappy. Perhaps this may make people alittle more conscious of their driving habits and start making changes like instead alot of little trips to take care of errands people may plan ahead to stop at a store while they are already out. I do that, but mostly as a time saver.

I haven't heard ANYTHING on the news about this e-mail yet. I was thinking today that I should've sent a copy of it to some of the local news networks to see if they would do a story on it. Maybe I'll hear something tonight.

So far, I don't see anyone in the gas stations.

Umm, we have one station that has LOWERED prices to $1.89 (from $1.94) for today and they are swamped. About normal gasoline purchases here... maybe down just slightly.

My parents said it looked like normal. LOL I see the people here aren't idiotic enough to buy into the crap.

I saw no difference when we went to the bank today. CA declared the 15th their don't gas up day though...silly that they made their own schedule...

Garrett - I wonder if that price reduction had to do with the e-mail or if we're going to see an all-out price war.

It could be a deal to get people to buy gas on "Don't buy gas" day.

I think that they have lowered the price because of the no buy gas day!!!

That's what I'm thinking Brent and Garrett.

No difference here in the gas stations.. They all looked to have at least 3-4 cars in each of them.

It looks like do not buy gas day didn't exactly get spread here. Even if it did.. I doubt people are paying attention

No difference here either. Honestly, what harm is one day of not buying gas going to do to the companies? Besides, wasn't the "Don't buy gas on the 19th" snoped already?

It has no harm at all. People will just fill up tomorrow or the next day if they don't do it today. It's not 1900. Cars or some other form of something that runs on fuel is a daily part of our lives.
