A true love story

God gives us many, many gifts in our lives. If we are lucky He grants us a real, true love of our life - a person that will stand beside us, stand behind us, push us forward and sometimes lift us up when needed. President and Mrs Reagan were given such a gift of love. They had that one strong, true and everlasting love. As I looked at the pain and sorrow on Mrs. Reagan's face tonight, I wept for her loss - the loss of a friend and soulmate. I thanked God for giving these two wonderful people to America. We were lucky to have that special love in the White House - a man that was strong, kind and committed to his convictions and a woman who stood behind him no matter what. These two people adored one another. You could see it in their faces throughout the years. Love like that comes but once in a lifetime. I'm glad it came in my lifetime and that President Reagan and Mrs. Reagan shared their love with me and the entire Country. God Speed Mr. President and God Bless Nancy.

I heard on the news the other day that they always wrote a letter to each other whenever apart.

Today I said good-bye to a Commander-in-Chief that I served proudly! President Reagan restored the pride and hope that this country was founded on. He reminded us that we each have a duty to work to make this country a shining example to the world. Thank you Mr President and thank you Nancy for letting us borrow him for so many years. Rest in Peace Mr President.

It was wonderful to observe over the years the love and affection that they had for one another. I can't imagine the hell she went through as she watched him slowly deteriorate before her eyes over the years. He couldn't have had a better person to be there for him all of these years.

I started getting misty-eyed as soon as the drums started playing as the caisson was moving along...and seeing President Reagan's boots aside that horse, too, gave me a bit of a chill.

Eric, the riderless horse acted like he had a rider on his back - maybe President Reagan was astride saying "Get this show on the road, I'm anxious to see what good I can do above." God Bless his soul.

Karan, at one point I began thinking about President Reagan watching from Heaven and saying...LOOK at ALL those people who turned out for my Homegoing Party! He's probably having a very nice chat with a fellow Son of Illinois, Abraham Lincoln, too.

Duck...you are the official Visual communications person on Storm2k. You seem to come up with all the right support goodies.

The Reagans were genuine in many ways...and their marriage was just part of that.

You'll not have a page of photos like that when former President Clinton passes on. Although he will get the same official goodbye ceremony, it will surely not feel the same.

Don't want to diminish the huge burden that any president, every president carries, but what a difference as men among men!

To be honest I'll never think that Clinton for one...merits a state funeral when his time comes...for ie: his IMmoral lifestyle and character while in the White House!

Maybe they could have a "small" ceremony in the oval office. Don't smoke the cigars though!!!!

I absolutely agree ~ we should all be so lucky, to find someone to stand beside us to the very end and beyond. I only pray that with her husbands passing, Nancy can find a bit of peace and finally get some rest after a long and painful ordeal.
