Story is being covered on all local news sites. Lead story tonight. Very frightening when you learn he was initially arrested the day ~after~ Thanksgiving last year. The busiest shopping day of the year. And why Columbus, OH of all places? Possibly b/c people would think they're safe in a regular, mid-sized Midwest town? In other words, not NYC/LA/Chicago, etc. but a town no one would suspect?
I'll continue shopping but I think I'll be more observant now.
I think we all should be at any large public facility - amusement parks, museums, etc.
If they wanted to take out a mall, the one we'd all think of would be Mall of America. I think I just answered my own question - no one would think of Columbus, OH as a target. This is too close to home for me.

Yup, and if they did it, and the rest of us realized that even a small mall in Happy Town, USA isn't safe, they'd succeed in further terrorizing us because we'd know that not just big cities are targets.
I'm glad they caught the nut.

Only one of many nuts I'm afraid.

The enemy has a lot of patience and we have to stay the course. This is going to be a long haul folks....

I hear you Miss Mary. I shopped a bit myself in Columbus. And more then likely when these idiots were gonna try and pull this off.
First the sniper and now this.
I say fry them.

hey...heard a spokesman for homeland security make some statement about how people should not worry about going to malls because there is a "large" police contingent patrolling the malls.
Ha!....apparently he hasn't ventured into my local mall where once through the door with your bomb filled backpack, its only a few steps to the middle of a jam packed food court with no fewer than 200 potential victims.
The largest police presence can be seen in the form of a mall security force that does an exceptional job (sarcasm intended) of making sure you don't park in front of the main entrance. That is if you happen to pull up there at the time he is circling the large mall parking lot.
I'm sorry, but the malls are a prime target and short of putting the National Guard at ever door and throughout the mall, there is not a hell of a lot they can do to stop a would be terrorist.
Our best defense, is just what happened here. Intelligence network. Stop an attack before it happens.
Often criticized but never given the respect they deserve.

For every cell we get...dozens are still lying in wait for orders.
Review that terrorist map BEER showed us...triple it...and you have a VERY good idea as to the extent of the Islamic "fifth column" in the US and elsewhere.
