Is anyone, particularly in the media, even reading this http://www.9-11commission.gov/staff_statements.htm or are they just hell-bent on twisting sentences and taking them out of context?

I draw your attention to Staff Statement No. 15 :
http://www.9-11commission.gov/hearings/ ... ent_15.pdf

(My emphasis underlined, not theirs)
With al Qaeda as its foundation, Bin Laden sought to build a broader Islamic army that also included terrorist groups from Egypt, Libya, Algeria, Saudi Arabia and Oman, Tunisia, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, Somalia, and Eritrea. Not all groups from these states agreed to join, but at least one from each did.

At least ONE terror group from Iraq joined Bin Laden and his group of hoods.

That's enough for me. Obviously, they weren't terrorizing their own country (Iraq) and bin Laden knew he could draw them into his battles.

Furthermore, notice that al Qaeda consists of several committees - the Shura (bin Laden's close-knit group of advisors), the Sharia (for issuing fatwas), the military committee (for training), the finance committee (obvious), the foreign purchases committee (for acquiring weapons and equipment), the security committee (for intelligence), and the information committee (for propoganda). I'd imagine the Iraqi group could have been involved in one of those.

Finally, we all know, but I'll just repeat it for those who seem to have forgotten -- bin Laden's fatwa (as quoted in the report) was "to kill the Americans and their allies" including "civilians and military." Furthermore, he said that it was "an individual duty for every Muslim who can do it in any country in which it is possible to do it." So he was instructing not just al Qaeda, not just Taliban, and not just Afghanis. He was appealing to all Muslims, Middle Eastern (that included Iraq) and otherwise, to kill Americans and their allies (that means Italians too).

Why isn't the media focusing on this? Hasn't it been clear from Day One? They want to kill us and they'll kill themselves trying. They believe they'll be martyrs for doing so. And we have to stop them.

I say we help as many of them achieve martyrdom as we can :-)

Does that mean you think it would be prudent to invade and occupy every nation on that list?

That Sha'ari'a "unit" cracks me up...as if Osama HAS the authority under Islamic law to issue fatwas (religious decrees with the force of absolute obedience by "all the faithful" attached)...he DOESN'T. He is NOT an imam, mullah or ayatollah, but he acts as if he has such status...

This is but one of a legion of examples of terrorists cloaking their hatred behind "Islam"...and why they are trying (and, in some cases, succeeding) to place this effort in "faith" terms. Just as they constantly refer to the West as "Franks, Crusaders," et al...they are making this war an extension of hostilities that ceased over 700 years ago.[/i]

Absolutely right ~ there is nothing more dangerous than when men hijack religion and use it for their own political purposes, and that is what is happening here.

No one said "invade and occupy"...time for us to let the snakes (Special Forces, "black-ops") loose.

Think of it as laser surgery on a cancerous group of malignant growths all over the "body" of the planet....swift, silent, and precise.

Then why didn't we do something similar in Iraq? The Pentagon drew up plans several times to take out the few terrorist elements in Iraq, but the Bush administration denied them the opportunity.....

Nope, we didn't. We didn't go in to take over the country and violently pillage, rape, and conquer and make it part of some empire. We went there to take a tyrant out of power and to free the people from his grip. It wasn't called "Operation Iraqi Freedom" for nothing, you know.

Hmmm.....

in·vade : 1. To enter by force in order to conquer or pillage.

con·quer : 1. To defeat or subdue by force, especially by force of arms.

We didn't enter Iraq by force to subdue and defeat Saddam and his army?
Sounds like an invasion to me.....

Rephrase towards whom the invasion is directed and you'll have it right. We didn't invade the country. If anything, we invaded Saddam's regime.
