Saddam could be executed

Now that the Iraqis have "legal" custody, they are ready to take him to trial. What if their trials don't last as long as ours (goodness how long trials here can go -- has Robert Blake even had his yet?)? Wow, could you imagine -- what if it only lasts two days (tomorrow and Friday) and then he's sentenced to be executed this weekend, right before the Fourth. :)

So, how will you celebrate?

As much as I would like to see this end soon, it's important to the international credibility of the new Iraqi government that the trial is conducted in an appropriate legal manner. I seriously doubt that the execution will be anytime soon. I wouldn't be surprised if it's more than a year away if not two.

Oh yeah...that's right...I wasn't thinking -- WE GOT THE TYRANNICAL, EGOTISTICAL, GENOCIDAL DICTATOR OUT OF POWER so now the Iraqis can have fair, just trials in their courtrooms! :)

*smacks forehead*

sooner the better. the people of iraq need to see his corpse, and the corpse's of his associates as soon as possible so they know he isnt coming back

I think handing him back to Iraq was 1 of the stupidest things we could have done.

We should have kept him.. and put him on trial. I bet those Iraqi's are somehow going to screw up and let him somehow be back in power.

They only have legal custody. We still have physical custody because no one thought their facilities were secure enough.

I think our trials are a little long winded. Between this motion and that appeal, blah blah blah. Something quicker would be fine in my opinion, but 2 days does sound a bit extreme, lol. I'm glad he's in our physical custody. I could just imagine what might happen if he wasn't...

If I had my way the trial announcement would be as follows:

Saddam Hussein Trial Schedule

Opening Statements - 8:30AM
Closing Statements - 8:35AM
Execution - 8:36AM
Breakfast Served = Around 10:AM (may be delayed due to slow painful execution) :-)
