WELL....we knew it was gonna be a BAD fire season but THIS is getting DOWN RIGHT ridiculous,we are LITERALLY "TRAPPED"

One new wildfire started yesterday, the Ponderosa Fire (man made

) has forced the closure of US Hwy 260 to my east, I-40 will be closed TODAY due to the smoke from the Jacket Fire, leaving US 60 South and US 260 East the ONLY roads leading out! Now.....the forecast for today is DRY thunderstorms to our south and east

talk about "being pushed in a corner with no way out!?!?!"

Ponderosa fire breaks out; Hwy. 260 closes, evacuations in effect
TONTO NATIONAL FOREST - An evacuation of the residents of Thompson Draw subdivisions is currently taking place due to the proximity of the Ponderosa Fire, located near the Ponderosa Gravel Pit. The fire is near the intersection of Hwy 260 and the Control Road, across Hwy. 260, but so far, the spotting has been contained. The fire is of concern due to its proximity to Tonto Village and APS 345 KV line. Pre-evacuation notices have been given to Christopher Creek, Kohl's Ranch and to the Bear Flat communities. Highway 260 is currently closed about 10 miles east of Payson. Public information numbers for anyone seeking information concerning the evacuation: American Red Cross: 1-800-842-7349 and 928-474-4511

They've got a pretty good idea, SEEMS there was a Boy Scout Troop out of Phoenix in the Ponderosa Camp Grounds...they *ahem* may have left an ILLEGAL campfire burning!

I'm glad to hear about the fire being 100% contained as well. I was beginning to wonder if you were going to evacuate or not. Are getting alot of smoke around your house?

This is the SECOND time in 5 years that a Boy Scout Troop has been responsible for a wildfire.....I don't get it, times musta changed a LOT since I was a BS (1967-69)

The scout troops are not exactly well trained if they left a fire burning
