LINDA RONSTADT...MEET WHOOPI GOLDBERG

Boy, it seems like liberals are dropping like flies in the entertainment business these days. The latest comes to us courtesy of Linda Ronstadt, and this is another good one.

It seems Linda Ronstadt took the stage Saturday night at the Aladdin Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas. Now, the people who were there to see her no doubt assumed that she would be singing her hits and doing what she was hired to do, which was entertain the audience. Ronstadt had other plans. She decided to talk about Michael Moore.

Before singing "Desperado," she called Moore "a great American patriot" and "someone who is spreading the truth." She encouraged everybody to see the movie about President Bush. So what happened next? Did the audience just roll their eyes and wait for the song to start? Nope...they revolted. In addition to their loud boos, hundreds of concert-goers stormed out of the theater, tore down her concert posters and tossed their cocktails into the air. Nice work by the audience.

The president of the place, a Brit named Bill Timmins, told the AP Ronstadt had to go. He didn't let her back into her luxury hotel suite and had her escorted off the premises to her tour bus. He then had her suite emptied of her stuff and had it delivered to her and told her that she was not welcome to return. It's nice to see people aren't just letting this crap slide by anymore.

Poor, poor, pitiful Linda. But man ..... can that woman flat sing.

A few words from Michael Moore <<DON'T CLICK THAT IF YOU THINK HE'S THE DEVIL! (The boogie man might getcha!)

For crying out loud, it was a song DEDICATION! To "Desperado!" Every American loves that song! Sure, some people didn't like the dedication, and that's their right. But neither they nor you have the right to remove her from your building when all she did was exercise her AMERICAN right to speak her mind.

Of all the things that go on in Las Vegas, this is what creates the need for serious action? What about the other half of the crowd at the Aladdin who, according to the Las Vegas Sun, cheered her when she made her remarks? Did you throw them out, too?

gin fizz, anyone?

Quote from Kiko's post: "But neither they nor you have the right to remove her from your building when all she did was exercise her AMERICAN right to speak her mind."

I say that the owners of a facility have EVERY right to remove ANYBODY for ANY reason. Sheesh, this isn't China.

Those who earn their fame through acting or singing or sports have a right to their opinion...and a right to express it.

But if I buy a ticket to see you act, hear you sing, or hit a home run, give me what I came for. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Unless of course you'd like to offer me a full refund if I wasn't happy with the performance.

Poppysky, again, I agree with you 100%. They are performers. If I want a lecture, I will choose the one I want to go to ----- not pay a high price to hear an entertainer's political viewpoint.

Isn't 'What Happens in Vegas' supposed to 'Stay in Vegas'?

Sorry, thought I heard that slogan somewhere? Guess they'll have to change it now...

;) ;)

Kiko, that's when it involves "Fun" things. That's what is supposed to happen in Vegas - you're supposed to have fun NOT receive a lecture!!!!!!!!! They are paid to ENTERTAIN.

I agree with whoever made the comment about going to the bank and hearing about Bush/Kerry whatever..

But at the same time.. The people at my bank are quite smart and a joy to talk to so I may not mind their stance lol..

When someone is using MY money - I don't want to hear THEIR viewpoint!!! PLUS I'm there to be entertained - no matter how smart they are!!!!!!!!!

Money doesn't really enter into it, Pburgh. I've read enough of your posts to know that you simply don't want to hear any viewpoint that doesn't align 100% with yours.

You pays your money, you gets your choice.

This is a thread about Linda Ronstadt, not to attack each other. Attacking someone is a poor way to make a point.

She made her point....and the crowd and the Aladinn made theirs.
