Girl allegedly pushed off cliff over child support
Associated Press
Jul. 26, 2004 05:07 PM
LOS ANGELES - A man has been indicted for allegedly pushing his 4-year-old daughter to her death from a cliff 120 feet above the Pacific Ocean so he wouldn't have to pay child support.
Cameron John Brown, 42, pleaded not guilty to the charge of murdering Lauren Key. The district attorney's office said prosecutors will decide later whether they intend to seek the death penalty.
He has been jailed since his arrest in November, when charges were initially filed in the case. The indictment, unsealed Monday, supersedes the earlier charges and means the case can proceed to trial without a preliminary hearing.
The little girl died Nov. 8, 2000, on Palos Verdes Peninsula, where Brown claimed she had slipped as they hiked to a spot high above the ocean called Inspiration Point, officials said.

Makes me wonder what this little girl had to endure ~before~ she was shoved off the cliff. No loving/caring parent, in their right mind, would do this! She was probably ill-cared for to begin with.
Terribly sad story.
I also hope that Heaven has a very special place for children like this - the Susan Smith children, Andrea Yates' kids, children that had to endure unspeakable horrors before they were killed. I'd have to say they went straight to sainthood. That's the Catholic coming out in me!

How completely and utterly sickening!
Part of the problem in the world today is that people don't want to take responsibility for their own actions or what to play the "Poor Pitiful Me, I'm The Victim" game. Women want to get abortions because they don't want to raise the children when they get pregnant. Men want to slip out of the picture and not take care of children that they helped create.
And then parents and school systems fight over who should teach children sex ed. And unfortunately, some of those battles are still waging so we have idiots running around saying, "Pregnant? How did that happen?"

This thing hasn't even gone to court yet and all of you so far have pretty much convicted him.

How do any of you know that this isn't in fact the case?

Yea, it's too bad we can't hear that poor girl's side of it...

Well, they don't usually indict people unless there's sufficient evidence to convict. Of course, now it has to be proven beyond a reasonable doubt to a jury.

Skywatch_NC, The word "claim" doesn't necessarily mean he lied. All I'm saying is to let the case run its course before jumping to conclusions. Forensics sometimes yields some very unexpected results.
