I heard that on CNN and what Paula Zaun this morning said was that Geraldo was booted from the 101 division coverage embedded there because he said the position that the 101 division were but he has not been booted from FOX NEWS.

FoxNews didnt boot him..the Military did.Fox has an understanding with the Military..and Geraldo jeapordized that relationship as well as the safety of those troops if this is true.
Hence my problem from the beginning with the embedded Media.
This is not good.

This was bound to happen sooner or later. I can't think of anyone better to get the boot than Geraldo! There is just no excuse for endangering the troops!

I saw him reporting last night with the 101 Airborne in the background. This so called booting must have happened after that.

That's too bad....not that I don't think it was the right thing to do. But ...I was watching Geraldo last night, and he was letting all the soldiers say hello to their wives, family or whoever. He does this every night I think. Its a nice thing. He can be a jerk at times, but I think the good in the man outweighs the bad. I would be inclined to give the man another chance, with strict orders not to f*** up again. JMO...and contrary to my usual hard line stance...but I just can't get out of my mind how great it must be for loved ones back home to catch a glimpse, perhaps their last of a loved one. He screwed up for sure....but a Peter Arnett he is not.

Another slip up like that could mean the Death of all those soldiers... Goverment certainly isnt going to take a chance like that, just because he allows them to say hi on TV..

I agree that the messages home were great but what he did put all those soldiers in additional danger. It does them no good to say hello if the next minute there are artillery rounds raining down on them. Let him report from Kuwait!

Agree Marshall he can report from Kuwait or from Jordan but I think it is an error that embedded thing of the press with the troops.

I think I mis-represented my view....and in retrospect..I will have to agree that the safety of the soldiers comes first. I think I missed the part where he gave away position. Anyway....I watch approx. 3-4 hours of Fox every single night...and I take the good with the bad. Geraldo is usually ok. THe embedded reporters are constantly having to stop and pause and think about what they are going to say. I don't think this will be the last time one of them slips up.

I said from the start that this was a bad idea. I hope all the other reporters get the message from this not to endanger our forces. :o

Yeah, the embedded reporters don't add that much to the reporting of the war. It raises the expectations of the viewers that they will be able to see something significant, or at least fireworks. While I'm watching Fox almost exclusively it seems that sometimes they struggle for content to fill the time. To me it seemed that the embedded correspondents reports were just fluff and filler.

Rivera has always been a "sensationalist" (remember the "Al Capone Vault" in Chicago?) and far to brash and, let's face it, "nosy" to be embedded within any ongoing military operation.

I was surprised that he WAS posted to the "Iraqi Freedom" reporters, who at least as far as FoxNews is concerned, have been following stated directives and doing a damn fine job of it.

The information given by the media is/has been ridiculous!! Even our locals in orlando give the time of the launch of satellites that are destined to provide us military data :o When there was no war on, they used to give only ten minutes notice prior to lift off of military satellites so the air traffic could clear. Today they give the time and place/pad . Very bad folks!! They even know when GWB has to pee :o

In my opinion, it should definately be one strike and your out in this case. I wouldn't be surprised if it happens again that we may end up seeing almost a total blackout of these "embedded reporters". We can't risk the safety of our troops!

I agree, I did not think the embedded reporters were a good idea. Too easy to let the "cat out of the bag" and endanger troops. JMHO.

That was a lie spread by MSNBC. Geraldo just reported with the troops on Fox News

I watched Paula's announcement this a.m. about this. Supposedly, Geraldo had drawn a map in the sand showing their location. Her surprise was quite evident.....she mentioned how careful most reporters are about even being careful that the questions they ask are not leading in the wrong direction that would harm our troops over there. I did not feel they were making light of the situation at all.....just surprise.

Later, on Fox when it showed Geraldo live still intermingled with our troops, he made quite a show of making fun of "the other" network. I have never been impressed with this camera-grabbing individual.......his negative sarcasm came across very openly. Just another ploy to get attention to himself..........perhaps HE started the rumor?!?........p

WHOA!!! MSNBC drops one of theirs like a pile of "(expletive withheld)", so they have to spread "(expletive withheld)" about another journalist (and my previous statement still stands re: Geraldo), but ...? :o
