CENTRAL COMMAND HEADQUARTERS, Qatar -- Hundreds of chemical suits and masks, atropine injectors, decontamination devices and vehicles and lots of ammunition -- quite a haul for Marines in a raid Saturday in Nasiriya, Iraq.
Experts will be going over the stockpiles found in two secured buildings.
The raid netted more than 800 rocket propelled grenades, and thousands of rounds of ammunition. It's so much ammo that a Central Command spokesman said it would be too dangerous to the city "to blow it in place." He said it would be transported to somewhere safe.
A few days earlier Marines found 3,000 chemical suits with masks inside a clearly marked hospital in Nasiriya.
Central Command says the hospital was being used as a military staging area for Iraqi paramilitary forces.
