I have been wearing contacts since I am 17 yrs old

perfect vision right now. but after posting here almost everyday i wouldn't be surprised in getting glasses in the next few years lol!

I've worn glasses since the first grade! I went to contacts for a couple of years but finally went back to glasses after a double eye infection.

Glasses here, with a graduated lens for reading. Without the "specs", I'm legally blind.

Poor eyesight for 37 years. Started with glasses then switched to the hard contact lenses. I had the same pair for 7 years. Now back to wearing glasses. I want to do that Lasik surgery. My husband had it done & was pleased.

Reading glasses isn't one of the options - right now, that's all that
I require...well, when I think to put them on...

Kathy, I uderstand that Lasik surgery would all but eliminate my vision problem, but w/o insurance, ain't no way...I was better than 20/20 until I was in my mid-20's, then the headlights started a slow slide...have NO idea how or why.

My eyes are getting worse too. Age sucks doesn't it?! I have bifocals but still have to take off my glasses to see close.

My husband's Lasik was not covered by insurance and were lucky enough to be able to pay for it (income tax refund). We found a good doctor in Baton Rouge. We paid $1800 in Baton Rouge (where there's competition) compared to $3800 it would have cost to have it done here in Lafayette.

I wore glasses as a youngin, but I do not now. My left eye has perfect vision, my right eye is lazy, and I can't see much out of it, but I am afraid of contacts (lol), and I don't want my good eye to become dependent on a lense!

Started out with glasses in the 3rd grade when they figured out I was failing because I couldn't see the board. What'd I know, I'd never seen differently. still can't figure out how I was reading????

When I got vain and couldn't see through the sweat, I went to hard contacts something like 26 yrs ago. I now wear gas pemeable hard lenses graduated for reading the comp screen better(still can't type though!!!) and use reading glasses too. Getting old is hell on the eyes!!! Lasik is not advanced enough for me according to my eye doctor, but should be in a few years. By then I might have a job and be able to afford it.

There's an eye doctor in town who basically developed all these eye surgeries. He now has one for age progression vision problems.

They are highly advertising lasik in Green Bay/Appleton. I constantly hear commericals...$999 per eye! (I'm not sure if that is after insurance or not)

Glasses here. Reading ones, 1.75 strength. Sometime after turning 40 I noticed I couldn't read a menu or the phone book. I'd be asking my husband to read a menu for me (he has 20/20) or my kids to look up a phone number. The looks I got!!! And groans. Eye doc said it was just something that happens after 40, ugh. I buy the cheapie reading glasses since I'm quite hard on them. Dropping, sitting on them, etc. People look at you odd though when you drop them in public - like oh no, there goes a $200 pair of glasses. Try $7!!! So there's my tip if you're in this situation, pick up a pair of reading glasses and don't muddle thru like I did for months. Go to an Opthamologist too. I hate wearing these things though - I'm always finding them in the couch or in my kids rooms where I laid them down. Yep, when you need these type of glasses you are also forgetful too!!!

I know my mom wears glasses, but other than that, I have perfect 20/20 vision.

Vision was pretty good until at the age of 26 I started sitting in front of a computer all day. Right now I'm at the turning point in my life where I can't see far away or close.

Am presently trying mono-vision. For all you who don't know this is one contact for distance, one for reading. It is at best a comprimise of both, but elimates the need for readers over contacts. The jury is still out on it.

Anybody else out there ever try monovision? I'd be interested to know if it worked for you.

I wear contacts here 98% of the time - have glasses for backup. I am a perfect candidate for the lasik surgery - cause I have a lazy eye too. But I am leary of the long-term results - what happens in 10 to 20 years?

So I stay with my contacts (soft) disposable.

The guy next to me had the surgery Patricia....he did one eye at a time. He is very pleased with it although he did have complications with the first surgery which the doctor told him about 1 in 100 have minor complications. He is 1 year into it and swears its the best thing he ever did.
